Waffle Flower July Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello Friends! Welcome to the Waffle Flower July Release blog hop. I am so excited to join talented creators showcasing all new product from Waffle Flower. Make sure you check out the Waffle Flower Blog for all the info on this blog hop! Blog hop list and giveaway info is at the bottom of this post.

I am sharing 3 cards that I made using products from the new release.

For my first card, I used the Ornaments Background Foil Plate, Ornaments Coloring Stencil, Merry Christmas Duo Foil Plate, and Small Ornament Die.

First, I started by foiling the ornaments background foil plate and the Merry Christmas sentiment with gold foil on smooth white cardstock using my Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil Machine. Then, I used the coordinating stencil, and various colors of inks to add color to the ornaments. The ornaments look like vintage glass ornaments, so I colored them in jewel tones. I also used ink to shade the sentiment panel. I wanted the colors to match, so I used a color that I used in one of the ornaments.

Next, I used an A2 layering die to trim down both the background panel and the sentiment piece. I adhered the background panel to a white card base; I layered some scrap pieces of cardstock behind the background panel (just as you would foam tape) to give a bit of dimension. I adhered the sentiment piece to the upper part of the card, slightly off center, with more scrap cardstock. I felt that I needed to add a little something to the upper left, so I diecut pieces for one of the small ornaments dies, then adhered it to the card. I finished my card by adding a few sequins and nuvo drops.

For my next card, I used the Layered Winter Birds dies, Dashed Snowflake Panel Die, and Essential Christmas Diecut in silver foil.

I started by die cutting the pieces in the layered winter birds dies with colored cardstock: red, black, orange, and craft cardstock for the birds, and green for the pine branches. I added just a little bit of dark gray ink to the wings and tails of the birds, then assembled the bird. The pieces are very tiny, so I used tweezers and an embellishment wand. I set the diecut pieces aside, and worked on the other pieces of my card. I wanted to ground the birds and branches on a smaller piece, so I decided to make a tag. I ink blended some distress inks on white cardstock. Then, I used a tag die to cut it out. I glued on the branches and adhered the birds with foam tape.

I wanted to add some interest to the background, so I decided to use the dashed snowflake panel die with a piece of white cardstock. I glued it to an A2 white card base, then adhered the tag on top with foam tape. I still needed a sentiment, so I used the Merry Christmas essential diecut. It is already silver foiled, but the white stuck out too much on the tag. I decided to try ink blending it to match the tag, and it worked out perfectly. I adde the sentiment with more foam tape.

To finish off the tag, I tied a bow with a piece of white embroidery floss, and glued on a few chunky glitter flakes.

For my last card, I used the Oversized Merry Christmas print dies, and the Snowy Pine Trees Stencil.

I used the same distress ink colors from the tag above, to ink blend a piece of white cardstock. I trimmed the panel to about 4 1/4 x 6 1/4, then used the snowy pine trees stencil with nuvo glitter paste. I set that aside to dry, while I diecut the oversized Merry Christmas dies. I die cut them 3 times, once from gold glitter cardstock, and 2 times from white cardstock. I glued them stacked together for dimension. I also diecut the outline from vellum, then glued the glitter pieces on top. Once the background was dry, I glued on the glitter sentiment.

To finish off the card, I trimmed a piece of gold cardstock to create a mat for the panel. I adhered the gold piece to a 5×7 white card base, then I adhered the panel on top with a few scrap cardstock pieces for some dimension.

I hope you got some inspiration from my cards. They were so fun to make! Make sure you head over to the Waffle Flowers site to check out the rest of this release.
