Just dance, featuring Hip Kit Club

Hello friends!  I hope you’re having a fantastic day.  Today I have a layout featuring the August 2018 Hip Kit Club kits.

I wanted to scrap these photos of my daughter’s 6th grade dance show.  Once of her costumes is goldish yellow, and the school colors are green and gold, so I started off looking for embellishments in that color.  Luckily, these kits had a good amount of mustard yellow, and different shades of green.  I also love all the girlie details in the new Maggie Holmes line!

I’ve got a variety of techniques on my project…

fussy cutting and ink splatters:

stamping and layering:

…as well as punching and machine stitching.  I added my title and hand written journaling to finish off my layout.

I am in love with the August 2018 Hip Kits!  I ended up using bits and pieces from the Main Kit, Project Life Kit, Embellishment Kit, and Color Kit.

I hope I’ve inspired you to get crafty!

Happy Friday!  TGIF!

Third grade, featuring Hip Kit Club

Hey there crafty friends!  Today I’m sharing a back-to-school layout using the August 2018 Hip kits.

I love documenting my daughters’ first few days of school.  I like to see how they grow and their styles change.  It’s been a tradition of mine to keep some of their clothing tags, and work them into the first week of school layout.  For this layout, I used a heart punch to create little embellishments.
I did a bit of fussy cutting for this project…some of the papers in this month’s kit are perfect for fussy cutting, and I am just loving the new Maggie Holmes line!  I love the colors and all the cute little embellishments.

I also used the stencil that we got in this month’s color kit, and some embossing paste along with the Shimmerz colorings mist to create a subtle layer behind my photos.  I love the almost tone-on-tone texture it creates.

I focused the photos and most of the embellishments and details on the mid-right side of my page.  I really like how your eye is drawn straight to the photos.

I added a little bit of pattern paper detail on the bottom left and upper right side of my page, a la Missy Whidden.  Then, I added in some of the sticker flowers, and called my layout done!

I love how my layout turned out, and I hope I’ve inspired you in some way. I used the August 2018 Main kit, Color kit, and Project Life kit.

You can see more back to school layouts on my blog here.
Happy Wednesday!

2 rainbow layouts, featuring Pinkfresh Studio: Simple & Sweet

Hello friends!  Today I’m on the Pinkfresh Studio blog, and I am sharing 2 rainbow layouts featuring the Simple & Sweet collection.  Make sure you head over there for even more photos and info on how I created my layouts!

For my first layout, I used my photo as the jumping off point, and I decided to use a quote as my title and main focus.

On a piece of white cardstock, I used a cloud stencil and blue ink to lightly add a few clouds onto my background.  I used the Happy Life, Fresh Air, and Good Company pattern papers to cut the letters of my quote using my silhouette machine.  I arranged the colors in rainbow order, then lightly adhered them to my layout.  I also used the blue puffy alpha stickers to finish off my quote.

Next I layered my photo onto a piece of Simplicity pattern paper that I cut down to size.  I also fussy cut some of the flowers from the Lemon Lush pattern paper, and embellished the top left and bottom right corners of the photo.

I added some puffy gold hearts and a few enamel dots to add detail to my layout.  To finish off my project, I adhered paper strips to the bottom of my layout, and an embellishment cluster to the top left of my layout to balance everything out.

I really love the way this layout turned out, and I hope you do too!

For my next project, I decided to scrap a school photo of my oldest daughter from a few years back…I’ve got some catching up to do!

Again, I was inspired by the soft rainbow colors in this collection, and I backed Paige Evans’ stars wreath cut file with the same papers I used above.

I added some ink splatters with the matching colors of the stars on a piece of white cardstock.  Once dry, I attached the cut file with foam squares to add a little dimension.  I also added some enamel dots in the coordinating colors.

I attached my photo to a piece of Fresh Air pattern paper.  I also embellished the photo with more of the fussy cut flowers, the “bright” puffy sticker sentiment, a gold puffy heart, a frame from the ephemera pack, and a chipboard sticker sentiment.

I finished off my layout by mounting it on to a piece of Fresh Air pattern paper, and adding some machine stitching around the edges.

I love how my layout turned out, and I hope I’ve inspired you to get crafty with some Simple & Sweet products!

Happy Tuesday!

2 cards, featuring Spellbinders August Die of the Month kit

Hello crafty friends!

Today, I’m here sharing a couple of cards that I created using the August Large Die of the Month kit from Spellbinders.  You can get all the information about the kits and how to join on their website here.

Here are the 2 cards I created:

Having these large dies made making a card fast and easy!

Here is the HELLO card:

I die cut the single flower image out of light pink cardstock.  I gave the flowers some definition by using some distress ink in picked raspberry and a small sponge dauber.  I also die cut the corner die (with the flower and swirls) from aqua cardstock.  Using my scissors, I snipped the end pieces to add to my card as leaves.

Next, I die cut a square from white cardstock, using nestabilities small classic squares, and sewed some wonky lines back and forth for a little texture using my sewing machine.  I attached the flowers, the darker one directly onto the background & the lighter one on some foam squares, and the leaves.

To finish off my card, I attached the card panel onto a white square card base.  I also attached a sentiment strip and pearls for a little more detail.

Here is the Congratulations card:

Like the first card, I did some machine stitching onto a white card panel.  (The scallops is one of the patterns my machine can sew…love it!)  I die cut the corner piece and a single flower from silver cardstock.

Next, I stamped the sentiment directly onto the panel.  Then I attached the corner piece on the panel using liquid glue.  I adhered the single flower with foam tape a little off set onto the flower on the corner piece.  To finish off the card, I added a black enamel dot on the center of the flower, and hand drew little black dots for the tiny flowers.  I also added some light pink enamel dots for a little color.

I love how my cards turned out!  The dies made it so easy to create a card!  I hope I’ve inspired you to get crafty!

Happy Tuesday!

The Beauty of You, featuring Hip Kit Club

Hello friends!  Today, and I’m sharing a layout inspired by the recent Hip Kit Club sketch challenge, and the August mood board.  This is my first layout with the August 2018 Hip Kits, and I am in love!

Here is what I created:

ahsang HKC beauty 1

I loved the sketch this week!  It is very much my style…I love embellishing squares and creating grid layouts!

I was inspired by this month’s mood board as well.  I love all the soft pastel colors (especially the purple), and I love the image on the top right with the cluster of little “embellishments.”

I started off by stamping one of the floral images from the Maggie Holmes stamp set that was included in this month’s embellishment kit.  Then I added some ink splatter.

Next, I cut 4 pieces of pattern paper & cardstock to 4 x 4 inches.  I added 3 photos to 3 of the squares.  On the last square, I hand wrote my journaling on an HKC exclusive project life card, then cut it out to look like a tag.

Next, it was about embellishing the squares…my favorite part!

This month’s Hip Kits were perfect to document my daughter getting a short hair cut and donating her hair.  (Old photos)  I’m loving the cute little details and the colors of Maggie Holmes’ new collection!

For my project, I used the August 2018 Main kit, Project Life kit, Embellishment kit, and Cardstock kit.

I love how my layout turned out!  I really hope you create something inspired by the mood board, or take part in our sketch challenge on the HKC Facebook group.

Happy Monday!

Grateful cards, featuring Spellbinders

Hello friends!

Today I am sharing 2 more cards featuring Spellbinders stamps and dies.  If you remember, I shared 2 cards in this post.  For these cards, I used the Spellbinders Grateful Stamp & Die set.  What a cute set!

ahsang spbds grateful 1

Here is card 1:

ahsang spbds grateful 3

For this card, I stamped and colored the images with Copic markers, then die cut them using the coordinating dies.  For the background, I used distress inks in cracked pistachio and mermaid lagoon; I used an old makeup brush that I had lying around to create a softer ink blended look.  I splattered it with water, and dabbed up the water drops with a paper towel to create bleached out spots.  I stamped the sentiment, then cut down the cardstock to size.  I adhered the images at different levels: I adhered the flat grater with glue, the pyramid grater with a foam square, and the cheese with 2 foam squares stacked on top of each other.  To add more interest, I drew a wonky frame around the edge and added a few sequins.

Card 2:

ahsang spbds grateful 4

For this card, I repeatedly stamped the images on a piece of white cardstock, and colored them with Copic markers.  On a piece of black cardstock, I heat set the sentiment with Versamark ink and white embossing powder.  I trimmed the 2 pieces to be the same width.  First I adhered the stamped background onto a white card base with fun foam and double sided tape.  Then I adhered the sentiment piece with foam tape.  To finish off my card, I added a few sequins and star sequins.

I really love how these cards turned out!  Check out the Spellbinders shop for more goodies and inspiration!

Something Sweet, featuring Hip Kit Club

Hello friends!
Today I’m sharing a layout inspired by the starwberries found in the July 2018 Hip Kits. I am using mostly the Main kit, along with one of the HKC exclusive wood veneer pieces from the Project Life kit.
When I saw the strawberry pattern paper and the cute little strawberries in the HKC ephemera pack, I knew it would be a perfect opportunity to document our strawberry picking trip from a few years ago. (These photos have been on my “to-be-scrapped” list since 2015. Yikes! Who else is a behind?!)
ahsang HKC strawberry 1
On a piece of white cardstock, I ink splattered some shimmerz paint from the June 2018 HKC color kit.  I also added a couple of white hearts to my layout using an old stencil and texture paste.
Next, I cut the strips from the strawberry pattern paper, and folded up the the edges using a score board and bone folder. I adhered 4 strips, alternating between the front and B sides.
ahsang HKC strawberry 3
After adding my photos, I added an ephemera title. I just love when an ephemera title works out…it makes adding a title to my layout so easy!
ahsang HKC strawberry 2
I created a line of embellishments with the little strawberries and some flowers that I fussy cut from the Pinkfresh Studio paper.
ahsang HKC strawberry 4
I added a few little bits and pieces to finish up my layout, like the HKC exclusive wood veneer, and I love how it turned out!

I hope I’ve inspired you to get crafty.
Happy Tuesday!
