Baby products I love: Lorena Canals rugs

Hey guys!  I’m here today with another post in my baby favorites blog series.  Today, I will be talking about Lorena Canals rugs.

We pulled up the rug in our living room, because we thought it would be cleaner, less dust, etc.  However, my girls like to play on the floor, and I was starting to get worried about it being too cold on the floor when “winter” rolls in.  (We live in Texas, so it doesn’t get extremely cold, but still…)  Also, with baby girl on the move, we needed something to cushion her as she learned to sit up, crawl, and start to walk.  We were using some foam mats set up on one wall with her toys, but it wasn’t all that pretty to look at.  They are bright primary colors, and stand out like a sore thumb in our grey/neutral living room.

I came across Lorena Canals rugs on instagram when looking at beautiful nurseries.  I loved the soft, sophisticated look of the rugs, and decided to check them out for myself!

What I quickly discovered was that the major selling point of Lorena Canals rugs is that they are machine-washable…I repeat: machine-washable!!!  How fantastic is that?  With 2 dogs, and 3 kids, a machine-washable rug is everything!

When I got the opportunity to try out a LC rug for myself, I jumped at the chance and chose the Braids rug in pearl grey.

trenzas-pearl-greyThis rug comes in 2 sizes, and I got the bigger one, which measures 4’ x 5’3”.  I love this rug!  It looks so much better in the corner of our living room than the bright foam mats!  The color is perfect, and I love the subtle pattern.

So far, I have washed it once, and it fits in my standard-sized washing machine with room left over.  The care instructions say you can tumble dry on low heat, but I chose to hang dry mine.  Lorena Canals rugs are light weight, so it dried in no time.

I am so happy to have this rug!  Baby girl loves to eat her snacks, and I’m glad that I can vacuum up the crumbs, and if she spills anything on it, I can throw it in the washing machine.

Lorena canals rugs are natural and eco-friendly; They are 100% natural cotton, made with non-toxic dyes, and contain no VOCs.  LC rugs are designed in Spain, and handmade in India.  I love that the proceeds support the Sakula project, and helps to provide schooling for children in India.

If you have kiddos, I highly recommend you check Lorena Canals rugs out!  They also have cute cushions, blankets, and baskets.

My girls love having a rug again, and I love that I can wash it.

Happy Tuesday y’all!

Baby products I love: DockATot Grand

Hey guys!  I’m here today with another post in my baby favorites blog series.  Today, I will be talking about our love for DockATot!

ahsang DATg 8

DockATot is a multi-functional lounger, co-sleeper and playtime lounger.  They come in 2 sizes (the Deluxe is for babies 0-8 months, and the Grand is for babies 9-36 months old).  They are tested for breathability, and are OEKO-TEX certified.

We were so so excited to get the DockATot Grand, and it was delivered on Ruby’s 1st birthday!  (Side note…she had an awesome donut themed party, and how in the world did my baby girl turn ONE?!!!)

ahsang DATg 1

We truely loved our DockATot Deluxe, but baby girl outgrew it a few months ago and we passed it along to my girls’ teacher who is due around Thanksgiving.  DockATot was actually at the top of her wish list, so I was glad we could pass it along.  We loved the way our DockATot “hugged” baby girl, and Ruby seemed to be comforted and soothed by it’s coziness.  (You can read my DockATot Deluxe blog post here.)

ahsang-dat-4

Back to the Grand…I quickly unboxed it, and got the cover in the washing machine.  Ruby has sensitive skin, so I always pre-wash bedding and clothes with fragrance free detergent.  I have to say that the DockATot covers wash really well.  They are made of all natural, 100% cotton, and the fabric is durable yet soft!  I chose the Mod Pod Grand Dock, because I love black and white patterns!  The covers come in lots of fun patterns and a classic white.  I love my Mod Pod choice, but the bananas for you print is calling my name!  Maybe I can have 2 covers and have them in rotation, ha!

ahsang DATg 2

We are nowhere near it yet, but the Grand will be perfect for transitioning to a toddler bed.  When the time comes, Ruby will be hugged by her grand in a big girl bed.  I will feel more confident with her in the Dock, since the sides will keep her from rolling off the bed.

ahsang DATg 3

ahsang DATg 4

What I also really love about the DockATots is that they are so portable.  The have a handle on the side, and they come packaged in a nice plastic bag with handles, which I highly recommend saving.  (I took our Deluxe to my parents house last Christmas when Ruby was 2 months old, and it was a life saver for naps!  I also didn’t have to worry about the cover getting dirty when loading and unloading the Dock from the car since I kept my plastic bag.)  If you need to travel long haul, DockATot offers really nice travel bags.

ahsang DATg 6

Ruby seems to be super happy with her DockATot Grand.  (She was climbing in while I was putting the cover back on.)  I love it since I am able to let her nap wherever I am when I want her close.

ahsang DATg 7

DockATots do not keep in heat, and provide an ideal micro-climate for babies and toddlers.  DockATots are designed in Sweden and hand made in Europe.

If you have a little one on the way, or you’re looking to buy a generous gift for a baby shower, you should check out the DockATot website.  Also, if you use my link, you can get $10 off all docks!

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Monday y’all!

Baby faves

Hey friends!  Today, I’m sharing some of our favorite baby products.  I’ve been meaning to share some baby favorites every couple of months, but here we are, with Ruby at 10 months old already.  Life happens, but better late than never, right?!

I’ve got lots to share.  Hmmm…where should we start?

Bathing and diapering:

ahsang baby fave no1

one.  Cetaphil GENTLE SKIN cleanser & Moisturizer.  All of my girls have sensitive, eczema prone skin.  The pediatrician recommended this brand to us.  I use the gentle skin cleanser as a body wash.  I just pump some right into my hand and rub it directly on her body.  Then I rinse.  I must admit it is a little weird at first using a body wash with no suds, but it leaves her skin feeling soft.  After bath time, we follow with either the moisturizing lotion or cream, depending on the season.  You will find these products with the face washes and moisturizers.

two.  Baby Bum Brush  This is a diaper cream “brush.”  It may seem like a silly product, but I loved it.  I hated having cream get stuck under my nails.  Even though I washed my hands, diaper creams are meant to be somewhat water resistant, and I would hate the residue of the cream under my nails.  I also found that I could use less cream when using this brush.

three.  A+D ointment.  This has been our diaper cream of choice.  There are essentially two types of diaper creams, the white kind with zinc oxide, and the vasoline-type ointment.  For our girls, the vasoline-type A+D ointment worked best.

four.  Water wipes.  I like these wipes because they are made of 99.9% water.  As I mentioned, my girls have sensitive skin, so I like that these are chemical free.

Accessories:

ahsang baby fave no4

one.  DenverDarlings head wrap & bows.  I absolutely love these big bows!  They are just so cute, and well made!

two.  ManeMessage baby headbands.  I loved these tiny bows for Ruby when she was a newborn.

(We really loved our personalized blanket by Audrey’s Bear as well!)

three.  Freshly Picked moccasins.  These are just so darn cute.  The are really soft on the outside and even softer on the inside.  They’re easy to put on, but harder for baby to pull off.  Genius!

Toys:

ahsang baby fave no2

one.  Mula stack & nest cups from Ikea.  These are only $2.99, and my daughter loves them.  She loves to knock them all down when we stack them up for her.  You also get lots of toys in one!

two.  Tomy hide & squeak eggs.  This is the cutest little toy set!  Ruby loves holding the eggs, and emptying out the cartoon!

three.  Moo, Baa, La La La!  We really love Sandra Boynton board books, but she likes this one best!  You can see that it’s well loved.  This was also my middle daughter’s favorite, and she wore her copy out!

Feeding:

ahsang baby fave no5

one.  Yobaby yogurt.  It’s organic, tastes good, and baby likes it!  Win win!

two.  Olababy spoon.  These spoons are the softest and most flexible I’ve found.  They’re really easy for baby to hold.  I also like the shape, as it’s easy to get every last drop of baby food out of the bowl.

three.  Baby fresh food feeder.  I loved putting pieces of fruit in this for my daughter.  We tried pears, apples, strawberries, peaches, and bananas.  The cold fruit was great for teething and it was a great intro to solids.  I have seen these in the stores before with the mesh.  I like this silicone option better…so much easier to clean!

four.  Zoli gum massager.  My baby loved this when she was teething.  It was so cute, we called it her little lollipop or popsicle!

five.  Gerber Organic Puffs.  Baby girl goes crazy over these puffs!  The gerber brand puffs dissolve better than some of the other brands.  They are perfect for beginners.

six.  Baby Mum-Mum.  These snacks are good for baby to hold on to.  Just like the gerber puffs, this snack dissolves really easily.  My daughter enjoys holding onto this snack and taking little bites.  It is the cutes thing!  I also like that they are individually wrapped.  It’s great to stick one in your diaper bag for on the go snacks.

seven.  ComoTomo baby bottle.  I bought this bottle as a last resort.  Baby girl is exclusively breastfed.  I only pump and give her the bottle once in a while.  When she was a younger baby, she took the bottle fine, but all the sudden at about 3 months, she wouldn’t take the bottle anymore.  We tried all kinds of bottles, Avent, Mam, Dr. Brown, but she just wouldn’t take it.  I came across the comotomo bottle, and it claims to be a bottle made to closely mimic breastfeeding.  It is a different kind of bottle for sure.  The bottle itself is made of silicone, so you can squeeze it.  My daughter really likes this bottle!

Speaking of breastfeeding…

ahsang baby fave no3

one.  Spectra S2 breast pump.  I got to choose between a few brands of breast pumps through my insurance.  I did some research, and read a lot of reviews, and decided on the Spectra, a brand I had never heard of before.  With my first daughter, I had a Medela, and with my second daughter, I had an Avent.  By far, the Spectra is my favorite.  I like that you have the option of double pumping, or pumping just one side.  It is a hospital strength pump, and it is quieter than my previous pumps.  You can change the strength of the suction, and the speed.  I also like that it’s a closed system, so you don’t get liquid through the tiny tubing.  I highly recommend this pump!

two.  Oat Mama lactation granola bars & tea… a great snack for nursing mothers!  My favorite granola bar flavor is the chocolate almond coconut.  I had previously bought some lactation cookies from the grocery store, and they tasted like cardboard.  These granola bars are really yummy.

Misc.

ahsang baby fave 11

Fisher-Price Animal Party Bouncer.  We have had this type of vibrating bouncer from Fisher Price for each of my girls, and they all loved it!  My older girl had a fish themed one, my second girl had a safari themed one, and Ruby has this rain forest theme.  Not only does the chair vibrate, but when baby startles, the legs cause the chair to slightly bounce.  Perfect for newborns!

ahsang baby fave 6

Antilop highchair with tray, and pyttig pillow from Ikea.  This little highchair is so affordable, minimalist, easy to clean…everything I want in a highchair!  I loved this highchair for all my girls, and it’s no different this time around!

ahsang-dat-4

Dockatot.  You can read all about why I loved this for Ruby in this post.

ahsang-mm-poncho-2

Milkmaid nursing poncho & car set cover.  I loved this as a car set cover when Ruby was younger, and now it’s a diaper bag essential, as I use it as a nursing cover.  You can read all about in this post.

That’s it for now!  These are products that we are loving.  I hope it helps you out, if you’re a new mom, or need baby shower ideas.  What products are you loving, or have loved for your sweet babes?

Happy Sunday y’all!

100 days Korean baby tradition, and hello RUBY layout featuring My Mind’s Eye

Hello friends!

Today is Ruby’s 100th day, and oh what a whirlwind it has been!  Time sure does fly!

It is a Korean custom/tradition to celebrate a baby’s first 100 days, or “back-il.”  A long time ago, survival rates for babies were very low (due to childhood diseases, no easy access to healthcare, etc), so babies were kept at home for the first 100 days.  My parents told me that “back then,” baby’s births weren’t even recorded until they reached 100 days old.  Making it to 100 days signified that the baby would survive, so families celebrated with food, and baby was introduced to friends and neighbors.

It is a tradition to eat rice cakes for the 100th day, so we will eat rice cakes today!

Here is Miss Ruby on her 100th day:

ahsang-r-100-day

And here is all 3 of my girls on their 100th day:

girls-100-day

I also have a scrapbook layout to share.  Isn’t it fitting that on Ruby’s 100th day, I am sharing a layout featuring a photo of our family of 5 in the hospital on Ruby’s birthday?!

ahsang-mme-ruby-2ahsang-mme-ruby-3ahsang-mme-ruby-4

For this layout, I used the My Mind’s Eye’s Sugar Plum Collection.  Even though this line is a holiday collection, you can use a lot of the products on non-holiday layouts.  I love how this layout turned out, and I’m so glad that I have a layout for Ruby’s baby album!

Thanks for dropping by friends, and

Happy Tuesday!

Baby products I love: Finn + Emma

Hey guys!

I’m back with another blog post in my series: baby products I love.  Today, I am featuring Finn + Emma organic baby clothes and toys.  I am by no means fully organic, but I do like to choose the organic route when I can; I like to think that it’s better for baby and the environment.  I had the opportunity to try out a few items from Finn + Emma, so I chose the dreamcatcher coverall, fairytale bandana bib, and amelia and piper stroller toy set.

ahsang-fe-1

ahsang-fe-2

I ordered the 0-3 month size one-piece, so baby girl has some room for growth.  She is now already 1 month old…{sigh} time sure flies!  The organic material is super soft, the outfit is well made, and it washes really well.  I love the soft colors too!

ahsang-fe-3

How cute is that wooden elephant?!  It is so smooth, with no hard edges, and I can imagine sweet girl gnawing on it when she eventually starts teething.  The other animal toy is made from organic yarn and is a rattle…great for her car seat.

I hope you have been enjoying my favorite baby products series!

Happy Monday!

P.S. you can get 15% off your Finn + Emma order of $50 or more using this link.
