Amazing layout, featuring Hip Kit Club

Hello friends, I hope you are all having a wonderful day!

It’s time for another Hip Kit Club sketch layout!  I will be using the Main kit, and Color kit for my layout.  I am also using a September freebie cut file that you can access from the Hip Kit Club website.

I am documenting my oldest girl at the 6th grade awards ceremony.  She was on the A honor roll for the entire year, and we are so proud of her.  She truly is amazing!

Today I’m working with this fabulous sketch by fellow team member Jill:

When I have a sketch assignment, sometimes I follow the sketch pretty closely, other times I take a loose interpretation, and today, I took a few bits and pieces of inspiration for my layout.  I really liked the 3 vertical photos, the layered elements, the journaling strips on the photos, and the pops of yellow.

First I cut the AMAZING cut file on white cardstock using my silhouette.  I backed the letters with the navy blue Pinkfresh Studio papers, and the stars with the yellow  Amy Tangerine paper.  I added machine stitching on the stars to help them stand out a bit.

On the double thick white cardstock, I sprayed the Mustard Seed shimmerz directly onto the cardstock, concentrating the spray towards the middle.  I also added some splatters using the shimmerz nozzle.

I added my photos on another piece of white cardstock that I trimmed to about 5 inches wide.  I glued on a piece of the Pinkfresh Studio paper to the middle photo as a mat, and I trimmed the Pinkfresh Studio ephemera frame as an extra border under that photo.

I used foam squares and machine stitching to pull all my elements together.  To finish off my layout, I added some journaling strips that I typed on my typewriter, gold asterisks from the alpha set included in the Main kit, and a few stamps from the Vicki Boutin stamp set.

I am loving these kits, I love this cut file, and I really like how my layout came together using the sketch as the inspiration!  Don’t forget to stop by the Hip Kit Club Group Facebook page to take part in this weeks sketch!

Happy Saturday!

Mary Poppins, a scrapbook layout featuring Hip Kit Club

Hello friends!

Today I’m sharing a layout featuring the September 2018 Hip Kits.  I am using the Main kit, the Embellishment kit, and the enamel dots from the Project Life kit.  I really wanted to create something with the Cottage paper from the Maggie Holmes Willow Lane collection, so I fussy cut all the little houses.  I also picked the Eminence paper from Pinkfresh Studio (the blue to ombre), and for some reason, I thought it needed to be a Halloween layout.

I am a few years behind on my Halloween layouts, so it was a perfect opportunity to scrap one of the years.  I chose photos from a few years ago, and wanted to document one of my older daughter’s costumes.  I had asked her several years in a row if she wanted to go as Mary Poppins, and that year, she finally said yes.  I bought a cheap straw hat on Amazon, spray painted it black, and hot glued some flowers on.  The shirt, ribbon, tights, and shoes we already had, so I just had to buy the skirt.  I LOVE how she looked!  It’s one of my favorite costumes that she has had!

So for the layout, I lined up the fussy cut houses in 2 rows, and I stitched through them.  I added my photos, and some journaling that I typed onto vellum.  They are just some fun quotes from Mary Poppins.

To finish off my layout, I added the fun alpha title, and then I flicked some watered down white paint to add some stars to the sky.

Even though I didn’t use any Halloween themed products, I think my layout goes with the photos really well.  The rows of houses remind me of the houses from the movie, and like I said, the background paper really made me think of Halloween.

I hope you guys like my layout…I think it turned out cute!  I hope I’ve inspired you to get crafty with your Hip Kits!

Happy Thursday!

Then & Now, featuring Hip Kit Club, and a YT process video

Hi friends!

Today, I’m sharing a layout with you featuring Hip Kit Club August 2018 kits.  I am using the Main kit, Project Life kit, and Embellishment kit.

I am scrapping a Then & Now page of my youngest in her Dock A Tot, and her Dock A Tot grande.  Time is just flying by with this one…she is getting so big already!  *Sad face

Also, I’m so excited to share that I have my very first ever YouTube process video!

I’ve done layout like this before where I puzzle piece together embellishments on a layout.  There’s really no layering or mixed media.  I love how clean and simple it looks, yet graphic it looks as well.

If you watch the video, you’ll see that it’s mostly just me pushing embellishments around until I like how things look.  Also, since I’m going for a graphic look, I want things to line up and be as straight as possible.

I hope you like my layout and my process video!

Forever Young, featuring Indigo Hills 2 by Pinkfresh Studio

Hello friends!  I am up on the Pinkfresh Studio blog today sharing a layout featuring the new Pinkfresh Studio collection: Indigo Hills 2.  This collection is absolutely stunning!  I love the moody deep colors, but also the soft elements of this collection as well, like the hand drawn elements and the delicate florals.

For more information on my layout, the process, and more photos, please visit the Pinkfresh Studio blog.  I will link the supplies at the bottom of my post.

I thought I would do something a little different, so instead of detailing my layout process, I thought I would talk about the story of the photo.

I chose a photo of my husband & I taken on our recent 14th wedding anniversary.  14 years…my how the time flies!  Since we were crazy with getting ready to sell our first house, and move into a new house, we decided for a simple date night.  A quick dinner out, and then we went to watch a movie.

Fun fact, I met my husband when I started high school…we are band nerds.  LOL!  We started dating right before my junior year, so we’ve been together a long long long time.  Ha!  It’s crazy to think that in my life already, I’ve been with him more than without.

The title of my layout is forever young.  The journaling says: a few more gray hairs, but forever young.  I guess that’s why this title and the journaling is spot on with our story.  We both feel like we’re young at heart, and can talk about the times when we were kids  in high school and college.

Now you know a little something more about me!  I hope I’ve inspired you to get crafty.  Please be sure to check out the new Pinkfresh Studio blog post, the Indigo Hills 2 collection, and also participate in the Pinkfresh Studio monthly challenge for an awesome giveaway opportunity!

Products used:

Meadow paper (wreath),sapphire, emerald city, lavender, bubble gum, and espresso watercolors, Eminence paper, Glen paper, wood stickers (REAL LIFE), cardstock stickers (forever young), chipboard stickers (being with you is my favorite), puffy stickersenamel dots, and gold puffy alpha stickers (gold dots).

Happy Wednesday!

Stars & Stripes, featuring Hip Kit Club

Hello friends!

Today I’m sharing a layout that I put up on the Hip Kit Club facebook page yesterday.  I am using the August 2018 Hip Kits: Main Kit, Project Life Kit, and Color Kit.

I have been loving the pink, lavender, and yellow colors in these kits lately as you can see in my other projects here, here, and here.  For this layout, I decided to go in a different direction.  I am scrapping photos from my daughter’s Veterans day music program at her school (last year).  I really wanted to use all the blue colors in the kits to go along with the Veterans day theme.

ahsang HKC stars&stripes 2

I started off by splattering my white cardstock with the Oakie Bear Blue shimmerz we got in the color kit.  Then I looked for all the blue pattern paper in the kits, and cut them into various sized strips.  I glued & machine stitched them on my layout with a right justification.  I also liked the Maggie Holmes gold star decorative trim, and it went really well with the Veterans day theme.

ahsang HKC stars&stripes 3ahsang HKC stars&stripes 5

Since I wanted the strips to be the star of the show, I decided to keep the embellishments to a minimum.

ahsang HKC stars&stripes 4

I really like how my layout turned out.  I love how all the different elements pulled into the Veterans day theme…the blue color, the stars, the stripes of the pattern paper strips, and the title itself.

I really love how my layout turned out, and I hope you like it too!

Happy Thursday!

Grade Seven, featuring Pinkfresh Studio

Hello friends!  Today I’m on the Pinkfresh Studio blog as a part of their monthly challenge.

This month, it’s an “inspired by” challenge, and I am always inspired by my fellow DT members.  Head on over to the Pinkfresh Studio blog for more info, and to partake in the challenge!

I wanted to document my daughter’s first week of seventh grade for this project.  As part of tradition, I like to include tags from their new clothes in these back to school layouts.

Here is what I created:

I was inspired by a layout by fellow DT member Lorilei, and you can see her layout here. I was inspired by her layered hearts, her wonky paper layers, and the white space in her layout.

For the background papers, I used the Be Brave and Flawsome pattern papers.  For the hearts, I used the Sincere, Happy Life, and Good Company pattern papers, as well as some nesting hearts dies and my diecutting machine.

I fussy cut some flowers from the Lemon Lush pattern paper, and I also used another floral piece from the ephemera pack to layer under my photos.

I added some enamel dots, the happy puffy sticker, and my mint puffy sticker title.

Along with my hand written journaling, I added some ink splatters and hand drew tiny hearts to finish off my layout!

I’m so happy with how my layout turned out, and I was super inspired by Lorilei’s layout.  I hope you stop by the Pinkfresh Studio blog to check out the challenge!

Happy Sunday!
