Disney Layouts (& a scrappy tip)

It’s been 4 months since we went to Disney, and I’m still trying to find time to scrapbook this vacation!  I managed to scrap my daughters’ bibbidi bobbidi boutique appointments, which I blogged about here:  https://jungahsang.wordpress.com/2015/03/09/2-disney-scrapbook-layouts/

I recently scrapped a brief “recap” of our week long trip for each of my girls’ albums.  To make it easier on me, I made them both very similar, using a lot of the same elements.  Also to keep it easier on me, I used my favorite, classic grid layout.  I like how many photos I can fit in, and I like that I can still add enough embellishments to add interest.  (For our family album, I plan to scrap a double page layout for each day at Disney.)

Here’s the double page for my younger’s album:

And here’s my Scrappy tip:

One of my favorite alpha stickers EVER is the October Afternoon thrift shop collection alpha sticker sheet (which is now discontinued).  The font and size are perfect!  However, the colors I had left didn’t really go with my layout.  After toying with some other alphas, I kept coming back to the OA stickers, wondering how I could make it work.  Since I had my supplies out from making the simply MAGIC square (seen above), I decided to try to ink the OA letters, and it worked like a charm!  I stuck the letters I needed on some old sticker packaging, and took my ink blending tools, and inked over the letters.  Then I splattered the letters with some gold mist for some extra oomph.

I’m not going to list my supplies this time, because I dug into my scraps, and there are a ton of different companies.  Let me know if you have any questions though!

2 Disney scrapbook layouts

I finally started scrapbooking our Disney trip.  I had included some pictures in my December Daily, but I wanted a few layouts in our normal albums as well.  I have 2 layouts to share so far.

The girls each had bibbidi bobbidi boutique appointments, and I wanted a layout highlighting their appointments for each of my girls’ albums.  Since the photos and subject matter were so similar, I used a lot of the same elements in both layouts.  I used my tried and true grid style layout so I could include lots of photos and lots of embellishments: pink, gold, hearts & stars…  I didn’t want the layouts to look exactly the same though, so I went with rectangles for E’s layout and circles for L’s layout.  I was also super excited to use some stamps that I bought specifically for Disney layouts: Kelly Purkey’s Simply Magic Stamp set found here:  http://www.kellypurkey.bigcartel.com/product/simply-magic-stamp-set.

2014 December Daily: Day 1-7

I have finally made some progress on my December Daily!  Normally, I keep up with it every day.  However, because we were on vacation at Disney the first week of December, I have been playing catch up ever since!

This year I’m using the October Afternoon daily flash album.  Since it’s thinner than albums that I’ve previously used, I’m trying to keep my pages pretty flat.  For my album cover, I decided to keep it simple.  I just used some red yarn and wood veneer that I got at Michael’s.

I used a lot of products from Teresa Collins, Studio Calico, Dear Lizzy, American Crafts, October Afternoon, Heidi Swapp, Elle’s Studio, Pebbles & some older Martha Stewart.  Some of the numbers are from a free advent tag printable found on the simple as that blog, here:  http://simpleasthatblog.com/2014/11/free-printable-advent-calendar-christmas-countdown-tags.html  and I used a paislee press digital template on page 2 that I purchased here:  http://the-lilypad.com/store/pressplate-no39.html  .

If you have any specific questions about a product, I will answer to my best ability.

Have a great weekend!

cat’s out of the bag, we’re going to disney!!!

A few months ago, my husband and I decided it was time to take our girls to Disney World.  This will be their first time!  They are 8 and 4 years old, and we have talked about going to Disney even before our second daughter was born.  Through the years, things came up, like saving money to buy our first house, our second daughter, needing a new car…the list goes on and on.  All important things mind you, but we decided we should make plans now before something else comes up.

I started looking into vacation packages about 3 months ago, and I thought we were ahead of the game.  I was about to find out how wrong I was.  Disney dining reservations can be made 180 days in advance, and fast pass+ reservations can be made 60 days in advance for Disney hotel guests.  I really wanted to take our girls to eat at Cinderella’s castle and chef Mickey’s for breakfast, but I was too late.  By the time I booked our vacation, they were both booked solid on all the days were are planning to attend.  I was able to get some pretty good fast pass+ reservations, so we are going to have an awesome time anyway.

All this time, we managed to keep this plan a secret from the girls.  With our vacation so close, we decided it was time to reveal.  I bought a giant Mickey balloon, and attached a letter telling the girls we were going to Disney World.  I put the balloon and letter in a big box, and wrapped it with Christmas wrapping paper since this is our early Christmas gift to the girls.  We had the girls open the box, and while there was excitement, they didn’t go crazy until I told them we were going to get on a plane to get there.  Haha, not what I expected, but I guess I should have educated them about Disney before hand.  (I’ve since shown them pictures on the internet of some things we’re going to see and do, and now they are ecstatic!)

Then I gave them their second half of their gift.  In a big Christmas gift bag, I included Minnie shirts, personalized Disney World maps, our magic bands, some Minnie ear hair clips, and personalized autograph books that I made for them.

For the autograph books:

I got some Mickey & friends patterned scrapbook paper from MIchael’s to make the cover page, and used October Afternoon stickers to spell out their names.  I also bought a pack of cardstock from Michael’s (measuring a little bigger than 4 x 6 inches) as filler.  The back star page is by Bella Blvd.  I cut both the cover and back page to the same size as the card stock.  I included about 30 pages of card stock for each book, to leave room for the girls to write or draw, and to include pictures of the girls and Disney characters.  Then I went to Office Max, choose a frosted plastic cover for both front and back, and had them spiral bound for just a few dollars.  This was a very affordable project.  I used MIchael’s coupons and stuff from my scrapbook stash.

I got the Minnie ears hair clips from an etsy shop called head2toedesigns.

We are so so excited!  I’m so glad that the girls know, and I can start getting things together to pack without being so secretive!

Happy Tuesday friends!
