Star Student, featuring Hip Kit Club

Hello friends!  Today I’m sharing a layout that I created using the July 2019 Hip Kit Club kits.  I was challenged to be inspired by the moodboard.  I created the moodboard for July, so I was really excited.  I was also challenged to use a lot of stars.

july 2019 mood board

Obviously I love all the images in the moodboard, but for this layout, I was inspired by the rainbow colors, the paper banner, and the rainbow stars.

Here is my layout:

My oldest daughter got an award at school a couple years ago, and I am just getting around to scrapbooking it.

I also filmed a process video if you’re interested:

Since I was challenged to use a bunch of stars on my layout, I started punching stars from all the patten papers.  I also punched stars from the different colored cardstocks, and I decided that I really loved the way it looked.  I trimmed the cardstock into strips, and measured out every 1 1/2 in, and punched a star.  I really like how orderly it looks.

I sprinkled some colored splatter onto white cardstock in a tone on tone color scheme, keeping in mind the order of the colors I wanted for my star strips.  Then I machine stitched the star strips to the background and added more splatters.

Next I added my photo, and added some black and white flowers that I fussy cut from a Pinkfresh Studio pattern paper.

ahsang HKC starstudent 6

I decided to stick to the tone on tone theme to embellish the layout.  I added in a Pinkfresh Studio wood ephemera (the piece that says work), as well as a few puffy stickers.  The cute little camera is a 3D sticker from 1Canoe2, and that plumeria flower is a Hip Kit Club exclusive.

I debated on either the gold or the white alpha stickers for my title, but I decided that I liked how subtle the white alphas looked.  I always want to keep the focus on my photo.

ahsang HKC starstudent 5

I really like how my layout turned out, and I’m glad I’ve got another layout for my daughter’s album.  I hope you’ve gotten some inspiration from my moodboard and project as well!

c/o 2019, featuring Hip Kit Club

Hello friends!  Today I’m sharing a layout that I created using the July 2019 Hip kits, and I’m featuring all the Hip Kit Club exclusive die cuts!

ahsang HKC tgrad 1

My niece just graduated from high school, and she had a Polynesian themed party, so these tropical die cuts were perfect for this layout. I sprinkled all the beautiful die cut flowers and leaves around my 2 photos.  The “You Got This” piece is from the new Pinkfresh Studio collection called Office Hours.  The sentiment and color were perfect on this layout!

ahsang HKC tgrad 4

I also used the lantern banner for the middle of my layout, and I really like how it ties the 2 photos together.  My title is 2019, and I used the gold thickers that came in the kits.  I love it when numbers are included with alpha stickers!

ahsang HKC tgrad 3

For my background, I used one of the July HKC exclusive cut files, called Circle Background, to create a stencil. I used yellow Distress Oxide ink (which we got in a color kit a while back) and a ink dauber to add some color to my background. If you like mixed media on your layouts, but hate warping, inking and stencils are the way to go!

I love how my layout turned out, and I hope you do too.  Thanks for stopping by, and don’t forget to check out the Hip Kit Club website for the cut files, as well as the July and August 2019 kits!

3 cards, featuring Hip Kit Club June 2019 Kits

Hey friends!  Today I’m sharing 3 cards that I made using the June 2019 Hip Kit Club kits. I am using lots of Heidi Swapp and Vicki Boutin products.

ahsang HKC 3cardsJUL 1

I was challenged to use the new sketch for my cards.  Since the sketch is relatively simple, I was able to be inspired by it for my cards.  I looked at the big photo as the focal point of the card, the journaling as the sentiment, and the stars as the embellishments.   Here is the sketch:

sketch 7.19

I also filmed a process video for the Hip Kit Club YT channel.

For my first card, I used the Heidi Swapp black and white pattern paper.  I used the Amy Tangerine 3D suede flowers in a different way, by unraveling them, and using them as fringe.  I added 3 birds and the sentiment from the Vicki Boutin chipboard stickers.

ahsang HKC 3cardsJUL 3

For my second card, I used the same Heidi Swapp b&w pattern paper.  The pink pattern paper is from the cut apart paper from Vicki Boutin, and the butterfly is a VB ephemera.  I made my own sentiment banner by stamping the “finding the beauty in every day” stamp from Heidi Swapp.  I finished the card with holographic chipboard stars from VB.

ahsang HKC 3cardsJUL 4

For my last card, I believe I used all VB products.  I really wanted to incorporate the fussy cut rainbow hears, so I made this simple card.  What makes it pop is all the different layers that I created by using foam tape.

ahsang HKC 3cardsJUL 5

I really hope you were inspired by my cards.  I have really enjoyed creating these cards using scrapbooking supplies.  Don’t forget to check out the Hip Kit Club website for the June and July 2019 kits.

Too Cool for My Shades, featuring Hip Kit Club

Hello friends!  Today, I’m sharing a layout that I shared on the Hip Kit Club blog a couple of days ago.  I created my layout using a HKC exclusive cutfile called My Shades.  It will be available on the Hip Kit Club website soon, so keep an eye out!  For my layout, I am using the June 2019 Main Kit, Embellishment Kit, and Color Kit.

ahsang HKC too cool 1

Using my silhouette machine, I enlarged the cutfile, then cut it from white cardstock.  I backed the cardstock using various shades of blue and teal from the pattern papers in the Main Kit.

ahsang HKC too cool 2

I decided to use my photo as the back of the O in “for.”  I had this photo in my camera roll already, but wasn’t this photo made for this cutfile, and vice versa?  My child was looking so serious in her carseat on the way home one day…when I asked her to smile, she wouldn’t, but when I asked her for a peace sign, she gave me one.  LOL!

ahsang HKC too cool 3

I decided I wanted to use white cardstock for my background.  I wanted the cutfile to pop a little more, so I decided to kind of paint the letters in an ombre fade.  I used the blue Magical powder from the Color Kit, watered it down, and painted my cut file.  I really like the depth it gave.  I mounted the cutfile onto my white cardstock with foam tape for some dimension.

Next, I used pieces from the kit to embellish my layout.  I didn’t want to take away from the cutfile, so I kept my embellishments to a minimum.  The “say cheese” speech bubble as well as the hearts are fussy cut from Vicki Boutin pattern papers.

ahsang HKC too cool 4

I used the Heidi Swapp stamps to create a few more embellishments.  I added a piece of pattern paper to the top, and a few banners that I fussy cut from VB pattern paper.  I also added a few of the holographic star and circle foam stickers.  To finish off my layout, I added a few splatters of the pink Magical powder watered down.

ahsang HKC too cool 5

When I started out making this layout, I must admit that I didn’t love it.  I was even wondering if I would keep this layout for her album.  However, as everything was coming together, I really ended up loving how it turned out!

I hope I’ve inspired you to get crafty.  Don’t forget to head to the Hip Kit Club website to check out the June & July 2019 kits, as well as the free cutfiles.

Happy Thursday!

3D Fun Time Cruisers, featuring Spellbinders July 2019 Large DOM

Hello friends!  Today I’m sharing a couple of 3D tricycles that I made using the Spellbinders July 2019 Large Die of the Month kit (DOM).  This month the kit is called 3D Fun Time Cruiser.

ahsang sb julyDOTM 3

The July LDOM comes with all the dies you need to create these fun tricycles.  You also get a “fun times” sentiment, as well as a few floral and greenery pieces.  These trikes make the cutest decoration for your craft room, or you can make a foldable version to put in the envelope.  To create a foldable version, you just leave the bottoms off of the baskets.  You can also make a 2D tricycle to glue onto a card…there are lots of options with these dies!

ahsang sb julyDOTM 1

I also filmed a YT process video if you’re interested!

For the coral colored trike that I made for the video, I chose a nostalgic color scheme, and I used the fun times sentiment on the basket.

ahsang sb julyDOTM 4ahsang sb julyDOTM 6

For my first trial run, I created a cute trike with classic colors.  I decorated it with white flowers and a couple of leaves.  I remember when I was younger there was a bike that I wanted so badly…it was pink with a banana seat, lots of streamers coming off the handles, and a white basket with white daisies.  LOL…it was very much like the bike that Ross gives Phoebe on an episode of FRIENDS.

I hope you check out the July Large Die of the Month from Spellbinders, and I hope you check out my process video to see how you put it all together.

2 cards, featuring Spellbinders July 2019 GOM

Hello friends!  Today I’ve got 2 cards to share with you using the July 2019 Glimmer Hot Foil of the Month (GOM), called Glimmering Sentiments.

ahsang sb julyGOM 2

This month you get five hot foil plate sentiments, as well as the coordinating metal dies.  You also get the Pewter foil this month.

ahsang sb julyGOM 1

For my first card, I used the sentiment Wishing You Well.  I made a wreath using the Spellbinders Thanks a Bunch clear stamp set.  I used Distress Oxide inks, in the colors Abandoned Coral, Picked Raspberry, Peacock FeathersSeedless Preserves, Worn Lipstick, Spun Sugar, Spiced Marmalade, Fossilized Amber, and Cracked Pistachio, my Misti stamping tool, and a wreath building stencil to create my card.

ahsang sb julyGOM 3

For my sentiment, I used the Pink foil, and I also added a few flowers from a previous Spellbinders LDOM, which is still available, called Layered Cake Sparkles.  I trimmed the stamped panel, and adhered it to a square cards base with foam adhesive.  To finish off my card, I added some liquid pearls in white opal, taffy, and marigold.

ahsang sb julyGOM 4ahsang sb julyGOM 5

For my next card, I used the sentiment You Brighten My Day.  I did a little bit of ink blending on a piece of pale blue cardstock.  I added light layers of Distress Inks in the color Salty Ocean, Chipped Sapphire, and Black Soot.  Once fully dry, I foiled my sentiment using Prism foil.  Using the coordinating die, I die cut a piece of copy paper.  I added just a tiny bit of repositionable glue, and used it as a mask to cover my sentiment.  Then, I used the FSJ Space Galaxy Background stamp, Versamark ink, and white embossing powder to heat emboss the background.

ahsang sb julyGOM 6

To finish off my card, I added a few jewels from the FSJ Space Glow embellishments, and a few dots created with Nuvo Crystal Drops in White Blizzard.  I added the panel to a white card base with foam tape.

I love the way my cards turned out, and I hope you do too.

First I Drink the Coffee | Pinkfresh Studio monthly challenge

Hi friends!  I have a layout that I created for the Pinkfresh July 2019 Challenge.  For this month’s challenge, you need to use cut files and/or diecuts on your project. Once you create your project, make sure you link it back to the challenge post for your change to win a $50 gift card!  For more info, you can check out the challenges on the Pinkfresh Studio website here.

For this layout, I used the new Pinkfresh collection: Office Hours.  I also used the Folk Art Mugs free cut file, which you can find in the albums section of the PinkFresh Studio Fan Group FB page.

I used my silhouette machine, and cut the cutfile on white cardstock.  I used the Pinkfresh watercolors to color the cups, and then I added a little gold detail with Heidi Swapp Gold color shine.

For my background, I used the Inspiration pattern paper, and I cut it along the color blocked lines.  I didn’t really want that big triangle of the mustard yellow, so I used it as a template and cut another piece from the Plan pattern paper.

I new I wanted to use this quote for my title, so the mini puffy alpha was perfect!

I embellished my layout with the various ephemera in this collection that fit the theme of coffee, crafting, and my space.  I used the diecut ephemera, the mixed ephemera pack, the cardstock stickers, as well as the puffy stickers.

I loved documenting my crafty space & my need for coffee.  I don’t think I’ve actually ever scrapbooked a photo without a face or animal.  LOL!

Don’t forget to head over to the challenge post on the Pinkfresh website.  Also check out the awesome Office Hours collection!

Happy Sunday!

“Jess Peas,” featuring Hip Kit Club

Hello friends! Today I’m sharing a layout that I shared on the Hip Kit Club FB page a couple days ago, featuring stickers and numbers. I am using the HKC June 2019 Main Kit, Embellishment Kit, Color Kit, and Cardstock Kit.
I wanted to document my toddler’s love of dresses, and I wanted to remember how she asked for a dress by saying “jess peas!”

ahsang HKC jesspeas 2

I used a HKC May 2019 subscriber cut file called clothesline, and cut it from yellow cardstock using my silhouette machine. I backed it with various pattern papers from the kit. For my background, I used a pink cardstock, and I added a little bit of white texture paste in the middle using the stencil from the color kit for a little extra texture and detail.

ahsang HKC jesspeas 5
I adhered my photos, then the backed cut file with some foam adhesive for a little dimension.  For my title, I used the glitter thickers, and it says “jess peas,” which is how my toddler says “dress please.”

ahsang HKC jesspeas 4

I added a subtitle of “24/7” and journaling strips, describing how see asks for dress all day everyday.  LOL

ahsang HKC jesspeas 6

To finish off my layout, I added just a few stickers and embellishment.  I tried to stick with the warm color palette of red, orange, pinks, and yellow.

ahsang HKC jesspeas 3

I wanted to keep the focus on the photos and the cutfile, so I kept my embellishments pretty minimal.  I love the way my sweet layout turned out, and I hope you do too!
Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Friday!

Happy Sweet Nine, featuring Pinkfresh Studio

Hey friends!  Today I’m on the Pinkfresh Studio blog sharing a layout using the new Just A Little Lovely collection.  (For more photos and info, head over to the Pinkfresh blog!)  I absolutely love the B sides of the pattern papers in this collection; they are beautiful watercolor backgrounds.  If you love the look of watercolors on the backgrounds, but are a little afraid of mixed media, I highly encourage you to check these papers out!

My daughter just turned 9, and I did a layout for her.

I used the Around Here pattern paper for my background.  I love this paper so much as is, so I didn’t want to do to much to it.  I did add some watercolor (mixed with a little white gesso) splatters.

For my title, I used the Puffy Phrase Stickers and the white Puffy Alpha Stickers to say Happy Sweet Nine.  I wanted to add just a hint of color to the white puffy alphas, so I painted the letters with some watered down Bubble Gum Pink watercolor, and wiped it off before dry.  It left just the tiniest hint of pink, and I really like the way it turned out.  I added some machine stitching to the white alpha as well, for a bit more detail.  For my journaling, I wanted to write a letter to my daughter, as a different way to include some of her favorites at nine.

I was already liking my layout the way it was, but I decided to embellish the 2 photos a bit.  I added an acetate foiled flower to each photo corner, a puffy flower sticker, a couple epoxy circle stickers from the mixed ephemera pack, and a few enamel dots.

I really wanted my photo and that background paper to shine, so I kept the embellishing really simple.  I am super happy with how it turned out.  These products from the Just A Little Lovely collection are so beautiful, you really don’t need much!

I hope you like the way my layout turned out!

Also, here is a sneak peek of a project I made for the July challenge.  Check back on the Pinkfresh Studio blog on July 7th when the challenge goes live to see the full project!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Happy Tuesday!
