Books matter, 6x 8 pocket page spread featuring Technique Tuesday

Hello friends!  Today I’m sharing a pocket page spread.  I have a 6×8 album that I fill randomly, just for me, of some of my favorite photos or stories.  I used a few Technique Tuesday products: The Story stamp set, Small Numbers crafting dies, and one piece from the Layered Smile crafting dies.

I decided to make a spread about books and reading.  If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I love reading.

I decided to work on the “why” story 3×4 card first.  I am using a photo of girls in a bookstore.  Since I already had my photo printed, I wanted to pull a few of my favorite colors.  I used some blue and pink watercolor, and watercolor paper to make the background of my card.  Once fully dry, I used black ink to stamp some journaling lines.  I used the larger journaling lines stamp, and I double stamped it (between the first set of lines) to create more journaling lines.  Think college ruled vs wide ruled paper.  Next, I chose the “why this matters” sentiment, and centered it at the top.  I added a little open heart that I die cut from the Layered Smile crafting dies and dark pink cardstock.  I added in my journaling to finish off the card.

For another card, I wanted to list a review a few of my favorite reads of 2019.  Using the same watercolors, I colored the die cut small numbers.  I created the book titles on the computer, printed it out on white cardstock, and trimmed it into a 3×4 card.  I used Distress Oxide inks, in Picked Raspberry and Salty Ocean, to stamp the “just the facts” sentiment.  I glued on the numbers, and used the star from The Story stamp set to stamp my rating.  I used my finger to wipe away a little bit of the star before stamping for the 1/2 stars.

For my other journaling card, I printed off a quote that I found on pinterest, and I colored it in an ombre blue pattern.  I stitched a little strip of pattern paper from my stash on the bottom.  The stack of books is fussy cut from a piece of Pinkfresh Studio Office Hours collection pattern paper.

That finishes off this pocket spread.  I love how it turned out!  I think it would be fun to start a separate “books I’ve read and loved” album.

Thanks for stopping by friends!

Happy Sunday!

Technique Tuesday June Release Blog Hop: 6 x 8 pocket spread

Hello friends, and welcome to the Technique Tuesday June Release Blog Hop.  You should have come from Norine Borys‘s blog, and your next stop is Emily Leiphart.

Today, I’m sharing a 6×8 pocket spread, along with a few 3×4 cards I made using the Laugh and Smile stamp set along with the Layered Laugh die set.

Here is what I created:

ahsang TT L&S 6x8 1

I made the 3 x 4 cards using the outline version of the “SMILE” and “LAUGH” stamps.  I used my Misti stamping tool to help me line everything up, and to double stamp if needed.

ahsang TT L&S 6x8 6

I used Distress oxide colors in Abandoned Coral, Picked Raspberry, Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers, and Seedless Preserves.  On the 3 x 4 card that I put in my pocket page, I left room between the red and yellow color to glue on a laugh die cut.  I die cut the laugh out of glitter cardstock, and 2x from white cardstock.  I glued them one on top of each other to create depth and dimension.

ahsang TT L&S 6x8 3

For the other card, I used the Remember When stamp set, along with the Oval and Rectangle Stitched Label dies.  I stamped the label with the DO Abandoned Coral ink for my journaling, then fussy cut it out.  I also stamped the sold label with DO Picked Raspberry.  Once dry, I stamped the “Good Times together” sentiment with Versafine ink, then die cut it using the rectangle stitched die.  I adhered the labels to an old Dear Lizzy pattern paper that I trimmed down to 3 x 4 inches.  I also added a glitter heart that I die cut from the square die with a heart inside.  Like the “laugh,” I die cut it once from glitter cardstock, and 2x from white cardstock and glued them together.

I just added a couple small embellishments to the photo.  I stamped the “This Photo Makes Me” sentiment from the Laugh & Smile stamp set with the DO Picked Raspberry ink, fussy cut it out, and adhered it with foam squares.  I used the outer square of the heart that I die cut, and adhere it to the photo as well.  Ideally, I would have liked my 4×6 photo on top with the 2 3 x 4 cards on bottom so that the sentiment would read “This photo makes me SMILE,” but I don’t have a pocket page layout like that.  This works perfectly fine though.

I really like how this pocket spread turned out, and I hope you do too.

Technique Tuesday May Release Blog Hop: Butterfly TN spread

Hi friends!  Welcome to the Technique Tuesday May 2019 Release blog hop.  You should have come from Ana Anderson‘s blog, and after me is Natasha Kara!

Today I’m sharing a rainbow butterfly TN spread featuring some Technique Tuesday stamps.  I used the Beautiful Butterflies, and the Beautiful Butterflies Silhouettes stamp sets.

ahsang TT Maybloghop 1

I used the BButterflies silhouettes, and a mixture of inks  to create a rainbow of butterflies on the left side of my TN.  I stamped the butterflies on white cardstock, cut it down to size, stitched through the middle of all the butterflies, and then adhered it in my notebook.

ahsang TT Maybloghop 3

For the right side of my TN, I used a piece of Paige Evan’s Horizon pattern paper.  I stitched through the “rays” for some texture.  I added my photo, and embellished it with a doily, a banner (also from Paige Evans), and two butterflies that I stamped using the TT Beautiful Butterflies, and the Beautiful Butterflies Silhouettes stamp sets, and then fussy cut out.  I stamped the word beautiful (also from the BB silhouettes stamp set) above the photo.  I added a little tab at the bottom with a little hand written journaling.

I love, love, love the way this turned out!  I have a little TN that I fill with photos that I love, just for me, and when I flip through it, I can’t help but smile.  This spread definitely puts a smile on my face.  I love rainbows, I love butterflies, and I especially love that smiling face in the photo.

Technique Tuesday National Scrapbook Day blog hop

NSD-Blog-Hop-Banner

Hello friends and welcome to the Technique Tuesday blog hop!  May 4th is National Scrapbook Day (NSD), and we are starting the celebration early!

For this blog hop, I made a Mom life layout!

ahsang TT sassydays1

I wanted to focus on the Sassy Day stamp set, so I had the idea to stamp them all, and turn them into labels.

First, I used some Distress Oxide inks, and ink blended pink, blue, and purple on white cardstock.  Once dry, I used the stamps, and some black ink to stamp the sassy sentiments, making sure to leave enough room to die cut labels.  Next, I used one of the label dies from the Essential Stitched Labels crafting dies set to die cut the sentiments.  I also die cut some pattern papers from Paige Evans, Maggie Holmes, and Shimelle’s collections that I had in my stash.

ahsang TT sassydays3

On a letter sized piece of white cardstock, I added some pink watercolor.  Once dry, I added the labels.  I used foam tape to adhere the sassy day stamped labels to the background.  I attached the pattern paper labels to the background with just a little bit of glue, and then I machine stitched through the middle.

ahsang TT sassydays4

I added my 2 photos with foam squares.  Next, I added a Mom Life title, and journaling strips.

Since my background is pretty busy already, I just added just a few embellishments.  I added a butterfly and puffy stickers from my stash.
