2 Thank you cards, featuring Spellbinders October 2019 Large DOM

Hello friends!  Today I’m sharing a couple of thank you cards, and a tag that I made using the Spellbinders October 2019 Large Die of the Month kit (DOM).  This month the kit is called Fall Flora, and it comes with 17 dies.

For my first card, I didn’t have a design in mind, so I decided to chose a fall color palette first.  Then, I diecut the pieces from cardstock scraps in my stash using my Platinum 6 Die Cutting Machine.  I layed out all the pieces trying to think of a design, and I realized I liked the way the florals looked, so I decided to use the diecut floral pieces on the background.  I glued them to craft cardstock, then trimmed it to about 4 x 5 1/4 in.  I diecut the Thanks sentiment 3 times, once from gold cardstock, and twice from white cardstock.  I stacked and glued them all together to get a thick dimensional sentiment.  I diecut the 2 fancy label pieces, glued them together, then glued the thanks on top.  I adhered the background panel to a white card base using fun foam, and then the sentiment label on top of with more foam tape.

I love how this card came out.

My next card was equally as unplanned as the first.  Since all the dies cut different pieces in one, I had a lot left over.  In particular, there’s a die that cuts 4 flowers and 4 holly berries.  I diecut that die several times with red cardstock, but only used the berries on the first card.  I had lots of red flowers left over, and I was trying to think of a way to use them all on a card.  I decided to diecut a heart from white cardstock, and glued all the red flowers on.  Then I trimmed off the excess flowers.  I wanted to keep this card fairly simple, so I adhered the heart to a white card base with foam tape.  Next, I wanted to add the thanks sentiment, but with the busy red floral heart, it didn’t pop out very well.  I decided to adhere it to a hand cut aqua banner, and I popped it up with foam tape as well.  Even though this card was made purely to use up leftovers, I love the way it turned out.

This card shows that you can make a card that would be great for any occasion…not just fall themed cards!

As with my second card, I had a few pieces still left over…most notably the pumpkin, so I decided to make a small gift tag.

I really hope you like my cards.  Don’t forget to check out the Spellbinders site for the different club kits, like the Large Die of the Month or the Glimmer Foil of the Month, as well as lots of other crafty goodies!

2 Gnome cards, featuring Spellbinders Sept 2019 Large DOM

Hello friends!  Today I’m sharing a couple of gnome cards that I made using the Spellbinders September 2019 Large Die of the Month kit (DOM).  This month the kit is called Game of Gnomes.

I filmed a YT process video showing you how to put all the little pieces together:

I made both of my cards similarly.  I diecut all the pieces from cardstock scraps in my stash using my Platinum 6 Die Cutting Machine.  (That’s one great thing about the tiny die pieces…you make a little dent in your cardstock stash, lol!)  I wanted to add a little bit of shading to the cardstock pieces before putting them together, so I used my Copic markers.  I show you how I put all the little pieces together in my video to create a gnome, mushrooms, squirrel, and acorn.  To give my cards more depth, I attached the various pieces to my card with liquid glue, thin foam squares, and foam circles.

For the card that I made in the video, I used Distress inks in Carved Pumpkin, Peacock Feathers, and Chipped Sapphire for my background.

For the card that I made previously, I used Distress inks in Scattered Straw, Abandoned Coral, and Dusty Concord for my background.  For the “Love you” sentiment, I used the Thanks a bunch stamp set from Spellbinders.

Also, I mentioned, and used a few tools in my video that you might find helpful:

I hope you like my cards, and picked up some inspiration!  Don’t forget to check out the Spellbinders site for the different club kits, like the Large Die of the Month or the Glimmer Foil of the Month, as well as lots of other crafty goodies!

2 school themed projects, featuring Spellbinders Aug 2019 Large DOM

Hello friends!  Today I’m sharing a couple of clipboard projects that I made using the Spellbinders August 2019 Large Die of the Month kit (DOM).  This month the kit is called Write On.

ahsang sb augDOTM 1

I filmed a YT process video, showing you how to piece all the little dies together to make a clipboard, scissors, pencil, pen, and paperclip:

For the first project, I made a clipboard birthday card.  I used the Happiest Birthday glimmer hot foil plates my sentiment, the Pink foil, and my Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil machine.  I also used the star dies from one of the previous Spellbinders Large DOM kits, but any small star dies will do.  First I foiled my sentiment on a piece of navy cardstock.  Then I die cut all the pieces I needed, and pieced them together.  You can see it in my process video.

For my next project, I wanted to create a back-to-school morning checklist for my 9 year old.  I made sure to laminate it, so she can use a dry erase marker in the morning.  First, I made a word document checklist.  I printed it off on lightweight white cardstock.  I used the smaller rectangle die to cut it out, then laminated it using my laminating machine.  Next, I die cut all the pieces, and put it together.  I used all my daughter’s favorite colors, so I know she’ll love it!

These dies are so awesome!  I love the detail put into these dies…I mean look at that pencil!  You can also make the scissors move by using a small brad.

I hope you like my projects, and picked up some inspiration!  Don’t forget to check out the Spellbinders site for the different club kits, like the Large Die of the Month or the Glimmer Foil of the Month, as well as lots of other crafty goodies!  Thanks for hanging out!

3D Fun Time Cruisers, featuring Spellbinders July 2019 Large DOM

Hello friends!  Today I’m sharing a couple of 3D tricycles that I made using the Spellbinders July 2019 Large Die of the Month kit (DOM).  This month the kit is called 3D Fun Time Cruiser.

ahsang sb julyDOTM 3

The July LDOM comes with all the dies you need to create these fun tricycles.  You also get a “fun times” sentiment, as well as a few floral and greenery pieces.  These trikes make the cutest decoration for your craft room, or you can make a foldable version to put in the envelope.  To create a foldable version, you just leave the bottoms off of the baskets.  You can also make a 2D tricycle to glue onto a card…there are lots of options with these dies!

ahsang sb julyDOTM 1

I also filmed a YT process video if you’re interested!

For the coral colored trike that I made for the video, I chose a nostalgic color scheme, and I used the fun times sentiment on the basket.

ahsang sb julyDOTM 4ahsang sb julyDOTM 6

For my first trial run, I created a cute trike with classic colors.  I decorated it with white flowers and a couple of leaves.  I remember when I was younger there was a bike that I wanted so badly…it was pink with a banana seat, lots of streamers coming off the handles, and a white basket with white daisies.  LOL…it was very much like the bike that Ross gives Phoebe on an episode of FRIENDS.

I hope you check out the July Large Die of the Month from Spellbinders, and I hope you check out my process video to see how you put it all together.

2 slider cards, featuring the Spellbinders June 2019 Large DOM kit

Hello friends!  Today I’m sharing a couple of slider cards that I made using the Spellbinders June 2019 Large Die of the Month kit (DOM).  This month the kit is called Festive Wreaths Slider, and it includes all the pieces to make a slider card, as well as lots of different themed elements to decorate the wreath, such as stars, hearts, flowers and leaves, and they even included seasonal items like snowflakes, bunnies and Easter eggs.

ahsang sb JuneDOTM 1

I created a process video on my YT channel:

If you watch my video, you can see how I die cut all the elements, and attach them together to create these cute slider wreath cards.

The first card I created was the pink floral card.

ahsang sb JuneDOTM 4

I was still trying to figure out how to use the dies, and my biggest tip would be for you to use heavy weight cardstock for the middle inside panel (the one that you pull).  If you use a light weight cardstock, the slider is flimsy and isn’t as smooth when you try to push it in.  My other tip for you would be to cut the half circle die 3 times instead of 2.  That way, the top of the wreath, the part that isn’t attached to the card, will be sturdier and have a clean look from the back.

For the sentiments for both of my cards, I used the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil Machine, and my favorite Everyday Sentiments II hot plate set.

The second card that I created was a gender neutral birthday option, and I used the stars as my embellishments.

ahsang sb JuneDOTM 3

You could totally go all the way around the circle with the embellishments, but I liked created just a couple of embellishments on both of my cards.

I just love interactive cards (hence my love of shaker cards), and these were so much fun to create!  I hope you check out my process video, as it is so much easier to show you how to assemble them rather than write out the steps.

2 cards, featuring Spellbinders So Many Sentiments truck add-on Dies

Hello friends!  I am so excited to share 2 cards with you, featuring the Spellbinders So Many Sentiments add-on dies for the Truck dies from the October 2018 Large Die of the Month.  The Truckin Through the Seasons LDOM set has been restocked, so if you missed out last October, now’s your chance to get them!

I’ve got a YT process video, if you are interested:

When I made my cards last October, I made a fall and a winter themed card.  You can see the 2 cards that I made for that LDOM in my blog post here.  This time around, I wanted to make Spring/ Summer themed cards.  Here is what I came up with using the truck dies, and 2 of the new sentiments:

ahsang sb trucksentiments 1

I made a green CONGRATS truck, and I had my niece’s high school graduation in mind when I made this card.  (Her school’s colors are green and white.)  I decided to fill the truck with pretty florals.  All the dies came in the Truckin Through the Seasons set, including the florals, with the exception of the tailgate sentiment piece, which is from the So Many Sentiments Set.

ahsang sb trucksentiments 2

For the background, I ink blended a sky with clouds.  I added a few more florals, gold stars, and Liquid Pearls in white opal to finish my card.

ahsang sb trucksentiments 3

For the next card, I thought I might use it as a teacher appreciation card for the end of the school year.

ahsang sb trucksentiments 4

I made the truck classic red, and the sentiment I chose was UR GREAT.  I also filled this truck with pretty florals.

For the background, I used a pattern paper from my stash.  It’s hard to tell from the photo, but the left side has a rough ripped edge.  I also folded the top left corner, and attached it down with tiny staples.  For the sentiment, I used the Everyday Sentiments II and the rose gold foil.  I added some more of the Liquid Pearls in white opal to finish off my card.

ahsang sb trucksentiments 5

I love, love, love these truck dies and sentiments!  I think these cards turned out so cute, and I hope you do too!  If you didn’t grab the truck dies last October, don’t wait to get it this time!

Thanks for stopping by, and happy Tuesday!

Best Wishes card, featuring Spellbinders May 2019 GOM

Hello friends!  I hope you are having a wonderful weekend so far.  Today I’m sharing a Best Wishes card, using the Spellbinders May 2019 Glimmer Hot Foil of the Month (GOM).  I also used the flower and leaves dies from the May 2019 Large Die of the Month (LDOM).

ahsang sb MayGOM 1

On a piece of white cardstock, I used my Glimmer Hot Foil System to hot foil the filigree frame with the Polished Brass foil, which both came in the GOM.  Next, I used Distress Oxide inks in Squeezed Lemonade and Abandoned Coral with an old makeup brush to ink blend right on top of the hot foil.  I hadn’t tried foiling first, then ink blending before, so this was a bit of an experiment.  After all the ink blending, I took a paper towel to buff off the residual ink on the foiling.  I will admit that the ink blending and the buffing did dull down the foiling a little bit, so I will stick to ink blending then foiling next time.  Using the oval die that came with the filigree frame, I die cut an oval from the center of the cardstock.  I then trimmed it down to slightly less than A2 sized.

ahsang sb MayGOM 3

On a separate piece of white cardstock, I used the “Best Wishes” sentiment that came with the Glimmer Hot Foil machine, and the same foil that I used for the frame.  I used foam tape on the back of the filigree frame panel, and adhered it the the Best Wishes panel.  Next, I adhered the entire thing to an A2 sized white card base.

I added some die cut flowers and leaves from the May LDOM to my card.  I finished it off using liquid pearls in brass and white opal.

ahsang sb MayGOM 2

I love how elegant and feminine my card turned out.  I hope you do too!  Don’t forget to check out all of the Spellbinders Clubs for kits filled with awesome value.  Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Sunday!
