The Sweet Life, featuring Hip Kit Club

Hello friends!

How is the weather lately in your neck of the woods?  Here in Texas, we have had some beautiful spring weather, but it has already started to get really hot.  Before it starts to get into the high 90s and 100s, we have tried to get as much outside time as we can.  We are introducing Ruby to long sunsets, bubbles, wagon rides, and sidewalk chalk.  I made a layout featuring her hoarding the sidewalk chalk.  It was just so cute.  She was trying to hold them all, but when she’d pick up one more, another one would fall out of her hands, and on and on.  Ha!  I absolutely love the photos I was able to take!  Don’t you think these photos would be perfect for a Crayola ad?  LOL!

I was challenged to use layers and fussy cutting on this layout… I love both of these techniques, so I was happy to!  I will be using the April 2018 Main kit, Cardstock kit, Embellishment kit, Project Life kit, and Color kit.

I fussy cut a bunch of the flowers from the Dear Lizzy floral paper.  (I still have a ton left for future projects!)

I layered pattern paper and 2 cardstock colors for my background, I used some of the exclusive Project Life cards for layers behind my photo, and I layered my embellishments by using flat adhesive and foam squares.

I thought that rainbow Dear Lizzy paper was perfect for this chalk layout.  To continue the rainbow theme, I used different colors of Distress Oxide inks (several from past color kits).  I have been putting a lot of these small circles on my layouts recently.  I have been using an sponge ink dauber tool, and I love how it looks!  A couple of the sheets of Shimelle mini alpha stickers are rainbow, which were perfect!

I added some little embellishments in a variety of colors to continue the rainbow theme.  I really love those glittery enamel shapes!

I really love how my layout turned out.  I hope I’ve inspired you to get crafty!

Happy Friday friends!

Go Ellie Go, featuring Hip Kit Club

Hey friends!  I have a layout to share with you that I created for sketch Friday on the Hip Kit Club blog.  I am using bits and pieces from the April 2018 Main Kit, Color Kit, Embellishment Kit, and Project Life Kit.

Ellie recently learned to ride her bike with no training wheels!  Yay!  She was very brave and worked through all the falls.  (Those falls are so hard on a Mama’s heart!)  She learned pretty quickly though, and we are so proud.  Of course I took tons of photos so I could scrapbook them!

Here is the sketch designed by Jill Sprott:

Here is my layout:

This week’s sketch was not my typical style, but I decided to fully embrace it, and be inspired by it.  That’s the beauty of sketches…it encourages us to try something we normally wouldn’t.

I started with the stencil from this month’s color kit, and a pink distress oxide ink (Picked Raspberry from a previous color kit).  I added some ink splashes too, as usual.  Then I chose some coordinating papers from the kit.  I chose the yellow paper first to match my daughter’s helmet, then I chose 2 more papers that coordinated with the yellow.

I picked 3 photos that would tell the story, one of her ready to learn, one of her and my husband teaching her, and one of her finally riding on her own.  I then embellished each one of the photos with flowers and puffy stickers.

For my title, I chose the HKC exclusive ombre puffy alpha stickers!  The color & size are perfect for my page!  They might be my favorite item from the April kits.  If you got the kits, what are your favorites?

I’m so happy with how my layout turned out, and I’m glad I was challenged by the sketch!  I hope you were inspired to get crafty!

Sparkle and Shine, a layout featuring Hip Kit Club

Hey friends!

Welcome and thanks for stopping by!  Today I’ve got a layout to share with you using the September Hip Kit Club main kit, paper kit, cardstock kitembellishment kit, color kit, and the project life kit…I used it all, LOL!  I couldn’t help it!

A weekly sketch challenge is posted every Friday on the Hip Kit Club Facebook Member Forum, and a few design team members create projects based on the sketch.  I highly recommend you check it out to see how you can win a $10 coupon code to the store!

Here’s my take on the sketch:

(Ellie is my big ball of sunshine…oh, I love her so!  The ambassador award at her school is a very big deal.  Only a handful of students get this award a couple times a school year.  Ellie’s big sister Lola has gotten the ambassador award twice, and Ellie was determined to get that medal too.  Imagine her excitement when she got picked to be the ambassador (finally, she says) in first grade!)

To begin my layout, I started with some mixed media.  I used a big round brush, and dipped it straight into the bottle of the Shimmerz Tuscan Sun Spritz to create the big ink splatters.  I also added a few splatters of the Shimmerz Caribbean Sunset Spritz, and some Heidi Swapp color shine from my stash.  After letting that dry, I used the Echo Park Knight Sky stencil and some texture paste to add some tiny tone on tone white stars.

Once everything was dry, I layed out all my photos, and decided where I wanted to put my title.  I love the mixed alpha title I created using the Shimelle glitter foam thickers, the Paige Evans sticker sheet blue square letters, and the Hip Kit Club gold alpha.

I added some hand stitched stars that I fussy cut from a Paige Evans pattern paper, and a few stars from the Shimelle glitter foam thickers.

I felt like the right side needed a little something something, so I added a paper strip from the Maggie Holmes Festival pattern paper.  I love how the strip of tickets coordinate with the photo and colors of embellishments.  It also justifies my layout to the right, leaving all the white space to the left.

This page was so much fun to create!  I used lots of techniques…mixed media, mixed title, layering, hand stitching, and machine stitching too!  I love my title especially!  I need to try the mixed alpha title more often!

That’s it for me!  I hope you like my layout, and are inspired to get crafty!  Check out our Hip Kit Club Member Forum Facebook page to see the sketch!

Happy Sunday y’all!

Zoo, featuring Scrapbook Circle

Hey there crafty peeps!

Today I have a layout on the Scrapbook Circle blog created using the July Smile More kit.  The alpha is from the July Laugh More add-on.

I finally got around to scrapbooking the zoo trip we took several years ago to our favorite zoo in Waco, TX, the Cameron Park Zoo.  I’m happy to have it done, and ready to go in the album!

The Perfect Day bear sticker is a Shimelle sticker which came in one of the past kits, but I just couldn’t help but put it on this layout…it’s perfect!
