Thanks card, Butterfly Reflections Ink

Hey friends!  Today, I’m guesting on the Butterfly Reflections ink blog.

I’ll be using Pretty Pink Posh angel friends stamp set.  I must admit that I bought this stamp set in early December with every intention of making holiday cards for my happy mail friends, but life got in the way, and I didn’t make a single Christmas card this past year.  Ha!  Sigh.  I was determined to use this stamp set though, so I had to think a little bit out of the box.

Here’s what I came up with!

Today, I’m guest designer on the Butterfly Reflections Ink blog, and I’ve got 2 handmade Valentines cards featuring My Favorite Things.  I use my favorite MFT Roses All Over background stamp, MFT Beary Special Birthday stamp set, and my new favorite MFT Otterly Love You stamp set.

December Daily 2016: Days 9-17

Hey guys!  I’m back with days 9-17 of my December Daily 2016 album.  You can see my title page and day 1 here, and days 2-8 here.

Let’s just jump right in!

Day 9:

Day 9’s story was about the Trail of Lights.  It’s just so magical walking through all the twinkle lights with hot cocoa!  My husband took the big girls this year, as it was too cold for a newborn…I can’t wait till we can go as a family of 5 next year!  As for the supplies, the number 9 chipboard is from Pinkfresh Studio.  The phrase stickers are also from Pinkfresh Studio.  The polkadot transparency is one that I picked up from the scrapbooking section at Michaels.

Day 10:

Day 10’s story is about lazy Saturdays and being obsessed with mini powdered donuts…is there such a thing as breast feeding cravings?  If not, there should be, lol.  The number chipboard are Pinkfresh Studio.

Day 11:

Day 11’s story is about baby smiles!, trays and trays of ham & swiss cheese sliders, and bedtime bible stories.  The journal card is from In a Creative Bubble, the acetate number 11 is from Pinkfresh Studio, and the Sunday chipboard sticker is from Becky Higgins.

Day 12:

I created the “Love this season of Joy” filler card using an Ali Edwards digital brush.  The red chipboard 12 is an older October Afternoon product.  The number acetate sheet is another one that I picked up from Michaels.  The phrase sticker is from Pinkfresh Studio, and that green label sticker is from My Mind’s Eye.

Day 13:

Day 13’s story is about going to school to visit my 1st grader, my 10 year old making a holiday shaker card for her teacher, and advent goodies.  The label is from In a Creative Bubble.

Day 14:

Day 14’s story is about sending out Christmas cards: both our family card and a few handmade cards, which I blogged about here.  The acetate 14th is from Pinkfresh studio.  The falalala Llama is a digital stamp from Just Me Digital Stamps etsy shop.

Day 15:

Day 15’s story is about school holiday parties!  I used papers from My Mind’s Eye Sugar Plum paper line, printables from In a Creative Bubble, the phrase sticker is Pinkfresh studio, and the number 15 are My Favorite Things stitched number dies that I diecut from glitter paper I had in my stash.

Day 16:

Day 16 is a big photo of our lights outside.  The number chipboard stickers are by Crate Paper, and I used the printables from In a Creative Bubble.

Day 17:

Day 17 is about cookie making!!!  The girls love this tradition; my 6 year old just piles on the sprinkles!  The journaling card is from In a Creative Bubble, the phrase stickers are Pinkfresh Studio, and the 17 is the My Favorite Things stitched number dies.

That’s it for today!  Don’t forget to check back for the final installment of my December Daily 2016 series!

Happy Sunday!

SSD tic-tac-toe challenge #7

Hey guys, it’s the first of the month, so it’s time for a new Tic-Tac-Toe challenge!  Read more about it at the challenge blog & join in!

Challenge 7

Here is what I made for this challenge:

ahsang SSS turtle

I chose the middle row: decorative frames, hat, and craft.

Here’s how I created my card:

  1. I used MFT’s stitched square scalloped frames die to cut out a frame from blue glitter cardstock.  I also cut out 2 more from white cardstock, and glued them all together to beef up the frame and give it a more dimensional look.
  2. On a piece of watercolor paper, I used Tim Holtz distress inks to watercolor a watery background.  Then, I set it aside to dry.
  3. On a piece of bristol white cardstock, I stamped the turtle and the birthday hat from Lawn Fawn’s year two stamp set with Memento tuxedo black ink.  Using copic markers, I colored in the images.  Then, I used the coordinating dies to cut out the images.
  4. I glued the frame to my watercolor background, cutting off the excess.  Then, I adhered it to a craft card base that I made.
  5. Using tiny foam squares, I adhered the turtle and her hat.
  6. I stamped the sentiment from Lawn Fawn’s chit chat stamp set to the background.
  7. To finish off my card, I added some sequins and pink baker’s twine.

That’s it for me!  Hope you like my card!

Happy Friday!

Share the love blog hop, Mint Owl Studio

Hey guys!

Welcome to Mint Owl Studio’s Share the Love Blog Hop!  If you are following along on the blog hop, you should have come from the fabulous Laura’s blog.  I absolutely love her cards and her videos (I love her rainbows and her one layer cards!)!  Next up on the hop is the super talented Audrey!

The idea of this event is to make a card and send it to someone you love.  We are part of an amazing hobby and we can use our talent to put a smile on someone’s face.  You can send it to a friend or family member who has a birthday, needs some encouragement, or just to say hi.  Make sure to leave a comment on all of the blogs on this hop to be eligible to win a $25 gift certificate to the Mint Owl Studio store.  There will be one winner chosen, so the more blogs you comment on, the better your chance is to win!

How can you participate and share the love?

  1. Make a card for someone in your life (it can be a friend, family member, co-worker, etc.)
  2. Post a photo of it on social media, tag us and use the hashtag #sharethelovemos
  3. If you don’t use social media, post it on your blog and then leave a link to it on the Mint Owl Studio blog post.
  4. Send the card in the mail so you can share the love!
  5. For each card you make and share, you will be eligible to win a $25 gift certificate to the Mint Owl Studio store.
  6. This event starts on February 8th and ends on February 14th at 11:59 PM CST.

For my stop along this blog hop, I created a spinner card.  This was my first spinner card, and I love how it turned out!  (By the way, I have been trying a lot of techniques I haven’t tried before, because it’s my crafty New Year’s Resolution!)  I will share a video of my card in action on my Instagram.

You can see it spinning on my instagram here!

For this card, I used Mint Owl Studio’s Piggy Party stamp set, and Peach Passion sequin mix.

Here is a step by step on how I created this card:

  1. I created a top folding A2 sized card base using bristol 100 lb paper.
  2. I die cut a scalloped rectangle panel from another piece of bristol, using a die from WPlus9’s sunshine layers dies.
  3. I stamped the “just pigcause I care” sentiment using versamark ink, then heat set using WOW white embossing powder.
  4. Then using an ink blending tool, I inked up the scalloped panel with Hero Arts Soft Cantaloupe ink, concentrating the color on the bottom creating an ombre effect.  I watered down some Hero Arts Unicorn pigment ink on my craft mat, and using a small paint brush, splattered some of the white ink on my inked up panel.
  5. I temporarily adhered the scalloped rectangle panel onto my card base.  I opened my card base and die cut the scalloped circle (My Favorite Thing’s jumbo peek-a-boo circles) through both the scalloped panel and the top half/panel of my card base.
  6. On another piece of bristol, I stamped the pig 2 times and colored them using copic markers. I fussy cut the images and lined the edges with a black marker. I also colored along the edges on the back of the images using my black marker, in case the pigs didn’t line up perfectly.
  7. I went to the garage and fished out a piece of fishing line (hehe).  I glued my 2 piggies back to back, sandwiching the fishing line in between them.
  8. I wanted the scalloped card panel to be raised, so I adhered foam tape all along the back.  I carefully aligned the piggies in the scalloped circle window, and stuck the fishing line to the foam tape.  (I trimmed off the excess.)
  9. Here comes the tricky part.  I had to carefully align the scallops of the circle on the scalloped inked panel to the scallops of the circle on the card base.
  10. For the inside of my card, I added a piece of pattern paper that I die cut using Simon Says Stamp stitched rectangle die.
  11. To finish off my card, I added a few clear sequins from Mint Owl Studio’s peach passion sequin mix.

I really love how my card turned out, and I hope you do too!  Don’t forget to continue along the blog hop, and if you get lost, you can always go back to the Mint Owl Studio blog!
