The Sweet Life, featuring Hip Kit Club

Hello friends!

How is the weather lately in your neck of the woods?  Here in Texas, we have had some beautiful spring weather, but it has already started to get really hot.  Before it starts to get into the high 90s and 100s, we have tried to get as much outside time as we can.  We are introducing Ruby to long sunsets, bubbles, wagon rides, and sidewalk chalk.  I made a layout featuring her hoarding the sidewalk chalk.  It was just so cute.  She was trying to hold them all, but when she’d pick up one more, another one would fall out of her hands, and on and on.  Ha!  I absolutely love the photos I was able to take!  Don’t you think these photos would be perfect for a Crayola ad?  LOL!

I was challenged to use layers and fussy cutting on this layout… I love both of these techniques, so I was happy to!  I will be using the April 2018 Main kit, Cardstock kit, Embellishment kit, Project Life kit, and Color kit.

I fussy cut a bunch of the flowers from the Dear Lizzy floral paper.  (I still have a ton left for future projects!)

I layered pattern paper and 2 cardstock colors for my background, I used some of the exclusive Project Life cards for layers behind my photo, and I layered my embellishments by using flat adhesive and foam squares.

I thought that rainbow Dear Lizzy paper was perfect for this chalk layout.  To continue the rainbow theme, I used different colors of Distress Oxide inks (several from past color kits).  I have been putting a lot of these small circles on my layouts recently.  I have been using an sponge ink dauber tool, and I love how it looks!  A couple of the sheets of Shimelle mini alpha stickers are rainbow, which were perfect!

I added some little embellishments in a variety of colors to continue the rainbow theme.  I really love those glittery enamel shapes!

I really love how my layout turned out.  I hope I’ve inspired you to get crafty!

Happy Friday friends!

Easter Joy, featuring Hip Kit Club

Hello friends!  I’m here today with a layout share.  I used only the Hip Kit Club April 2018 Main Kit for this layout, with the exception of cardstock.

I’m usually a year behind on Easter/holiday layouts, but I took a photo of my 3 girls on Easter Sunday that I love so much, I had to scrap it.  What about you?  Have you scrapped your Easter photos yet?

I have still been inspired by the recent mood board, so I incorporated a few of the elements on this layout.  I did some, well a lot, of machine stitching on some blue cardstock.  I have to admit that it was a bit time consuming, but I love the texture it gave my layout.  I also loved the hand traced title of the mood board, and I wanted to feature the gorgeous pattern paper, so I created a giant title.  I incorporated the photo as my “O.” I lined each letter and the photo with a fine tip pen.  I love the look!

I embellished some of the letters with flowers and puffy stickers.  I made 3 clusters so I could create a visual triangle.

This layout did take a little time to complete, but it was relatively easy to put together.  I love the way it turned out!  I hope I’ve inspired you to give giant pattern paper titles a try!

Happy Saturday… and shoutout to my hubs: happy birthday!

Tea Party, featuring Hip Kit Club

Hey friends!  I hope you are having a wonderful day!

Last week was Mood Board week for Hip Kit Club, and today, I’ll be sharing my layout inspired by the mood board.

Here is the mood board, created by fellow team member Jill:

Here is my layout:

I’m scrapping photos of my daughter’s 7th birthday party from last summer.  She had a dress up tea party, and loved it!  It was so cute seeing all the girls get fancy!

First, I was inspired by the thin strips of paper and all the stitching.  I made my own version by cutting up strips of pattern paper from the April Kit.  I added stitching through each of the strips.

I was inspired by the hand written water color title.  I decided to make mine with the pink watercolor stripes pattern paper.  I hand cut out my letters, and traced around the edge with a thin tip pen.  This turned out to be my favorite part of my layout!

I was also inspired by all the circles and the color yellow on the mood board.  I painted some yellow and pink circles with distress oxide inks.  I die cut various sized circles from pattern paper and project life cards, and used them as embellishments on my layout.

For my project, I used bits and pieces from the Hip Kit Club April 2018 Main Kit, Color Kit, Embellishment Kit, and Project Life Kit.

I hope you like my layout.  I really like how my title turned out!  I hope I’ve inspired you to get crafty!  You might try making a project inspired by the mood board too!

Happy Monday!

Go Ellie Go, featuring Hip Kit Club

Hey friends!  I have a layout to share with you that I created for sketch Friday on the Hip Kit Club blog.  I am using bits and pieces from the April 2018 Main Kit, Color Kit, Embellishment Kit, and Project Life Kit.

Ellie recently learned to ride her bike with no training wheels!  Yay!  She was very brave and worked through all the falls.  (Those falls are so hard on a Mama’s heart!)  She learned pretty quickly though, and we are so proud.  Of course I took tons of photos so I could scrapbook them!

Here is the sketch designed by Jill Sprott:

Here is my layout:

This week’s sketch was not my typical style, but I decided to fully embrace it, and be inspired by it.  That’s the beauty of sketches…it encourages us to try something we normally wouldn’t.

I started with the stencil from this month’s color kit, and a pink distress oxide ink (Picked Raspberry from a previous color kit).  I added some ink splashes too, as usual.  Then I chose some coordinating papers from the kit.  I chose the yellow paper first to match my daughter’s helmet, then I chose 2 more papers that coordinated with the yellow.

ahsang HKC goElliego 4

I picked 3 photos that would tell the story, one of her ready to learn, one of her and my husband teaching her, and one of her finally riding on her own.  I then embellished each one of the photos with flowers and puffy stickers.

For my title, I chose the HKC exclusive ombre puffy alpha stickers!  The color & size are perfect for my page!  They might be my favorite item from the April kits.  If you got the kits, what are your favorites?

I’m so happy with how my layout turned out, and I’m glad I was challenged by the sketch!  I hope you were inspired to get crafty!

Sweet Smile, featuring Hip Kit Club

Hey everyone!  I hope you’re having an awesome day!  Today I’m sharing a layout  featuring photos I took of Ruby’s first taste of lemons.  I have to admit that I took these photos specifically for this layout.  I bought some lemons, got my baby dressed in a coordinating outfit, and had a photoshoot in our backyard.  Do any of you crafters create photoshoots just so you can use a particular product in a layout?  There were a few lemon themed products in the March 2018 Hip Kits that I wanted to use, like the Maggie Holmes pattern paper.  Needless to say, the photos I got of Ruby tasting lemons were priceless!  Ha!  I love them!

Here is my layout:

Look at that face on the photo on the left!  LOL!!!

ahsang HKC lemons 4

I used the March 2018 Hip Kits for my layout: Main Kit, Color Kit, Cardstock Kit, and Project Life Kit.  The chiffon cardstock was perfect for a lemon layout, and of course the Maggie Holmes pattern paper.

ahsang HKC lemons 2

I used several techniques on this layout.  I did some fussy cutting (the pink butterflies), I altered the “smile” chipboard with heat embossing, I did some machine stitching, I created some depth with layers and foam adhesive, and I added some paint splatters using the Vicki Boutin watercolors.

I love the way my layout turned out!  I’m so glad I got another page done for Ruby’s album!  I hope I’ve inspired you to get crafty!

Happy Saturday!

Magical Day, featuring Hip Kit Club

Hey friends!  Today I’m sharing a layout I created using the March 2018 Hip Kits.  I did a lot of fussy cutting, and I altered some thickers to fit my layout.  I used the Hip Kit Club Main Kit and the Project Life Kit for my layout.

Last summer, we went to an American Girl Doll store at the Mall of America while on vacation, and my daughter got her very first AG doll as an early birthday present.  It was a dream come true for her, and it was such a magical day.  Her smile just lit up her face!

As soon as I saw the Dear Lizzy floral paper in the kit, I knew I wanted to fussy cut it.  I kept it out with a pair of scissors on my counter in the living room, and when I had a spare minute, I would fussy cut a flower out.  Next thing you know, I had the whole paper fussy cut.

I have been loving big titles lately, so I incorporated the fussy cut flowers into my title.  I cut out the word MAGICAL on a piece of white cardstock with my silhouette.  I traced the letters on another piece of white cardstock, and filled in the spaces with the flowers I fussy cut.  Then I popped up the cardstock with the letters cut out on top with foam squares.

ahsang HKC magical 2
I love the dimension it created.

I also wanted to use some of the Jen Hadfield word thickers, but the color didn’t really match my layout.  I decided to alter them with heat embossing.  I used VersaMark ink, rose gold embossing powder, and a heat gun to transform the thickers to fit my page.  I actually heat embossed it twice for thicker coverage, and I think they turned out really well!

I am a big fan of white space, and I wanted to keep the focus on the title and journaling, so I kept the other embellishments relatively simple.  I added the acetate butterflies, some Maggie Holmes word stickers, and machine stitching.

I love the way my layout turned out.  I hope I’ve inspired you to make different products work for you.

Happy Thursday!

Here is my take on the sketch:

ahsang HKC th&n 1

The March Hip Kits are filled with such “spring-ie” goodness, I knew I wanted to make a spring layout.  We were at our neighborhood park on St. Patrick’s day when I had a strong feeling of deja vu.  My girls were trying to balance together on the sled-looking spring rider, when I suddenly remembered a photo that I took of them together on the same toy on St. Patrick’s day years ago.  I love, love, love these photos!  Of course I had to do a then & now layout.  Look how much L & E have grown!  That word sticker at the top that says “all things grow with love” could not be more perfect for this layout!  I also added a photo that included the baby at the bottom, because that’s the real now.

ahsang HKC th&n 2

I absolutely love the papers from the Main Kit (the floral is from Dear Lizzy) & the pink cardstock from the March Cardstock Kit matches them perfectly!  I used the Vicki Boutin watercolors from the Color Kit to jazz up the pink cardstock a bit before I added my pattern paper layers.  I love that there is a white included in the watercolor set…it allows you to really customize your colors!  For my title, I used the handwriting thickers from the Embellishment Kit.  I love all the butterflies from Jen Hadfield, which are included in the main kit.  I finished off my layout with some word stickers that are in the Project Life Kit.

I love how my layout turned out!  I hope I’ve inspired you to get crafty, and I hope you stop by the HKC Member Forum on FB!
