Magical, featuring Hip Kit Club

Hey everyone!  A few days ago I was on the Hip Kit Club blog along with fellow team member Corrie for sketch Friday.  A weekly sketch challenge is posted every Friday on the Hip Kit Club blog, Facebook page, and Facebook Member Forum.  I highly recommend you check it out the Hip Kit Club Member Forum Facebook page to see how you can participate and win a $10 coupon code to the store!

Today, I have a Halloween layout to share with you.  I like to get my Halloween photos scrapped as soon as I can…If I don’t, I forget about them with the hustle and bustle of the holidays, and they never get scrapped.  I think I still need to scrap 2013 & 2014…

Here’s my take on the sketch:

I used my October 2017 Main Kit, Embellishment kit , Color kit, and the cardstock I used is the Bazzill tutu pink from the cardstock kit.

I wanted to use one of the giant Dear Lizzy white chipboard words, as I hadn’t used any yet, and I thought “magical” was very fitting for a Halloween layout.  I dressed it up with some mixed media.  I used the Shimmerz Old Yeller Inkling with a bit of the packaging technique and I also painted with a small paint brush.

While the chipboard was drying, I got to work on my layout.  Can you believe I only used one pattern paper on this layout?  I loved both sides of the Pinkfresh Studio Escape the Ordinary paper in transform.  I used the b&w side as my frame.  Whenever I matte a layout on a piece of pattern paper, I always cut out the inside, so I can still use the paper.  Do you do that too?  Since I cut out the middle, I had enough left over to use on my layout.  I punched some circles out of the b&w side, and I used the yellow floral side as a layer behind my photos.

I used circles as embellishment spots on my layout.  I looked for black and white elements within the kits to embellish the circles, which was plentiful in the Pinkfresh Studio Escape the Ordinary collection.  I added some paint splatters, and my journaling, and called it done!

Even though I didn’t use any Halloween product on my layout, I think it turned out very “Halloweenie!”

I hope you like my layout!  I encourage you to play along with our sketch!

Happy Sunday y’all!

Fall card and gift tag featuring Hip Kit Club

Hey guys!  Today, I’m sharing a Halloween/ Fall card and gift tag that I made using the Hip Kit Club October 2017 Main Kit.

The off the page theme this week is Halloween.  I was really inspired by this month’s Leaf cut file designed by Kim Watson, so I decided to highlight them in my projects this week.  I made a card and a gift tag that could work for both Halloween and fall.

I used my silhouette to cut the leaves on white cardstock.  Oh boy did I have a heck of a time with my machine!  Needless to say, a few curse words, and several wasted pieces of cardstock later, I cut the leaf cut file a couple of times in different sizes for variation.  I backed a bunch of leaves with the Dear Lizzy Stargazer Make a Wish paper (both sides), and the Hip Kit Club exclusive Autumn Breeze Favorite Flannel Paper.  I love how thick the Hip Kit Club paper is!

For the background of my card, I die cut some papers from the Pinkfresh Studio Escape the Ordinary collection with a stitched rectangle die, and adhered it to a white card base.  I added 3 of the cut file leaves.  I liked the way some of the leaves looked without pattern paper, and I made sure to attach it only in the middle so I can flip up the edges.  I machine stitched through the center of the leaves for added texture.  I added the rubber sentiment, and a strip of white cardstock with the date.  With just a few more added details, like the Pinkfresh Studio stars and gold splatter, I was able to finish my card.  I found the gold polkadot paper gift bag in my stash, and I thought it would be cool to use it as an envelope.  It is the perfect size, and I have a little room to slip in a fun size candy!  Win win!

I loved the leaves so much, I decided to adhere 3 together with some twine, and attach it to a box of m&ms.  (Have you guys tried the white pumpkin pie flavor?  They taste like Starbucks pumpkin spice lattes!)  Even individually, they would make great gift tags, but together, I really think it jazzes up the candy box!  (Bonus: I still have more leaves left over for future projects!)

I also think that the leaves would make cute table setting cards for Thanksgiving.  If my family was fancy, I would totally do that, but we’re not!  We use paper plates and plastic forks when we have a get together…ha!

That’s it for me today!  I hope I have inspired you to get out your silhouette machine, and create some fall projects!  Don’t forget to check out the October 2017 Hip Kits!  Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Friday!

Mini album, featuring Scrapbook Circle

Hey guys!  I’m on the Scrapbook Circle blog today with a mini album share and tips for fussy cutting.

Every month, I take a picture of Ruby in a white onesie and a monthly sticker.  I love to see how babies change and grow in their first year of life.  I wanted to document my baby’s 12 months, so I thought a little mini album would be perfect!  I used the July Smile More kit and the July Laugh More add-on.

Trio of cards, featuring Scrapbook Circle

Hey friends!  Today, I’m on the Scrapbook Circle blog with a trio of cards.  When I saw the cut file in this month’s Take Note kit, I thought they would make perfect sentiments for handmade cards.

I was really inspired by Kristina Werner, and tried this watercolor technique.  I love how bold and graphic my cards turned out!

Magical Moments layout, featuring Scrapbook Circle

Hey guys!

Today, I’m on the Scrapbook Circle blog with a layout featuring February kit So This Happened and the add-on Record It.  This layout was made for the Take 2 challenge, where I recreate a layout from another design team member.  Stop by the blog to check out who inspired me!

I’m finally getting around to scrapbooking photos from my maternity shoot, which I blogged about here.  This photo is my favorite, so I had to highlight it!  All of those tags and flowers are fussy cut from Dear Lizzy’s 6×6 paper pad.

You are Awesome layout, featuring Scrapbook Circle

Hey guys!

Today, I’m on the Scrapbook Circle blog with a layout using the February kit So This Happened.  Along with Diana, I am highlighting and using the Dear Lizzy flags that came in the kit.  I chose to deconstruct my flags and add them in my layout.  Hope on over to see how Diana used hers!

My daughter received the Ambassador award at her school this past fall (hence the baby bump).  Our Lola is a happy, kind, friendly hard-working kid, and she loves school!  We couldn’t be more proud!
