Today is Ruby’s 100th day, and oh what a whirlwind it has been! Time sure does fly!
It is a Korean custom/tradition to celebrate a baby’s first 100 days, or “back-il.” A long time ago, survival rates for babies were very low (due to childhood diseases, no easy access to healthcare, etc), so babies were kept at home for the first 100 days. My parents told me that “back then,” baby’s births weren’t even recorded until they reached 100 days old. Making it to 100 days signified that the baby would survive, so families celebrated with food, and baby was introduced to friends and neighbors.
It is a tradition to eat rice cakes for the 100th day, so we will eat rice cakes today!
Here is Miss Ruby on her 100th day:
And here is all 3 of my girls on their 100th day:
I also have a scrapbook layout to share. Isn’t it fitting that on Ruby’s 100th day, I am sharing a layout featuring a photo of our family of 5 in the hospital on Ruby’s birthday?!
For this layout, I used the My Mind’s Eye’s Sugar Plum Collection. Even though this line is a holiday collection, you can use a lot of the products on non-holiday layouts. I love how this layout turned out, and I’m so glad that I have a layout for Ruby’s baby album!
Thanks for dropping by friends, and
Hey guys! I’m officially 37 weeks, and baby girl managed to stay put! Woo hoo!
Today, I have my very first layout for baby girl #3’s album. In all my girls’ albums, I usually start off with an ultrasound layout, and I’m continuing the tradition. For various reasons, I had several ultrasounds during this pregnancy, so I had many pics to choose from!
I just used some supplies that I’ve had in my stash for a while…there’s a bit of Dear Lizzy, some old studio calico, My Mind’s Eye enamel dots, and my favorite Mama Elephant Charmed stamp set. I also used the Crate Paper Little You Girl supplies that I ordered from Butterfly Reflections Ink a while ago when I found out I was having a girl.
I’m so glad I got a chance to make at least one layout before baby girl gets here!
Thanks for stopping by!
P.S. how cute are those Freshly Picked moccasins?! I ordered the light gray pair before I found out the gender of the baby when they had their big sale a while back. I think they’ll be perfect for baby girl though!
Hey guys! I just wanted to pop in real quick to share the quilt I made for baby girl #3!
I finally finished it at 35 weeks pregnant! First, I couldn’t decide on a color scheme, then I couldn’t decide on a quilt pattern…so I decided to keep it simple and chose colors I have been loving lately, and chose simple, classic squares.
I go into more detail on quilts in this blog post if you’re interested, as well as photos of a few other quilts I have made.
Here are a few process photos:
I bought the fabric for my quilt from Hobby Lobby and JoAnn fabrics.
I love making baby quilts, and it’s extra special when I get to make one for my own baby! I am super happy with how this quilt turned out!
Happy Monday friends!
Hey all! I am officially 35 weeks…time has just flown by! This pregnancy has by far been the hardest on my body. I have seen so many different kinds of Doctors and specialists…probably more than I ever will in my lifetime. Even so, we had been hoping and praying for baby #3 for a few years now, so we feel truly blessed, and I wouldn’t change a thing.
At my most recent appointment, our Dr told us to be prepared as the baby could be here any time between now and 40 weeks. Without sharing too much info, I’m already showing signs that I’m getting ready for labor & delivery! I would definitely prefer to cook this baby for a few more weeks, but we are frantically preparing for baby to arrive, just in case. We made a much needed trip to Target today, and went on a little shopping spree! (I love Target’s baby registry! You get a one time use 15% off completion coupon for anything left on your baby registry about 6 weeks before your due date! You better believe I used that bad boy today!) I think we picked up all the necessities, although it’s been 6+ years since we’ve had a newborn in the house!
In the meantime, I thought I’d share a few maternity photos. It was extremely hot out, and the mosquitos were relentless, even though I doused myself in bug spray, but I loved how the images turned out! Since this will most likely be my last pregnancy, I really wanted to take maternity photos. I dragged my girls and hubby out at golden hour, as photogs like to say, and handed my big girl camera over. I adjusted all the camera settings for hubby, gave him a quick camera lesson, and instructed him on which poses I wanted and what I wanted him to see in the view finder. It was definitely hard being in front of the camera, lol! “Do I have a double chin?” “Is the red square (focus point) on my face?” “Can you see my sweat?” “Do I look awkward?” I would have loved to have a few pics with hubby, but at least I got a couple with my girls.
I edited a few of my favorite images, and here they are:
That’s it for me!
Happy Sunday y’all!
Hey guys! Today I’m on the DeNami design blog with a DIY traveler’s notebook.
If you follow my blog or instagram at all, you already know how I’m obsessed with these little journals. I decided to make this one my baby bear/bump journal.
I hope you’ll pop by the DD blog to check out how I made this traveler’s notebook & for more pics!
…coming Nov 2016: baby #3! We have hoped and prayed for another baby for years, and we are beyond excited!
As far as my pregnancy so far: I have been plagued with extreme, all day morning sickness, & all day, everyday headaches for more than 4 weeks now (hence my lack of crafting lately), but it’ll all be worth it!
Here is the full layout for the Scrapbook Circle blog featuring Scrapbook Circle’s exclusive acrylic numbers! I’d love for you to come check it out!
Happy Tuesday friends!
