Beautiful Treasures, featuring Hip Kit Club

Hello friends!  Today I’m sharing a layout that I created using the April 2019 Hip Kit.  I created this layout for sketch Friday over on the Hip Kit Club Group FB page.  I was challenged to use the sketch, use a white background, and add lots of layers and texture to a Mother’s Day themed project.

Here is the sketch:

This is my favorite photo of my mother and I (and my sister), so I decided to document it.  On a piece of white cardstock, I added some texture circles directly to the cardstock.  I created circle stencils that I stuck to the cardstock.  Then I used the HKC exclusive Paige Evans stencil, and texture paste (which I colored with blue shimmez).  Once dry, I used half of the beautiful Paige Evans pattern paper for my background.  I machine stitched through the rays of the pattern paper, continuing my stitching all the way across the white cardstock to create even more texture.  I also hand stitched 3 circles to add another layer of texture.

I backed my photo with another of Paige Evan’s pattern paper and a doily.  I adhered the photo so to my layout.

Since the sketch has lots of circles arranged in a diagonal, I used my circle dies to die cut circles from the various papers in the kit.  I kept the circles color coordinated with the colors of the pattern paper.  I arranged them across the layout, being mindful of the sizes and colors.

I embellished some of the circles.  I also embellished the bottom left corner of the photo with a few flowers.  I fussy cut my title from a Paige Evans pattern paper, and I love how it echos how I feel about my mom.

I love how my layout turned out, and I’m so happy that I’ll have this photo in my album.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Don’t forget to stop by the HKC Group FB page for sketch details, and don’t forget to stop by the HKC website to check out the amazing kits.

2 foiled birthday cards, featuring Spellbinders

Hello friends!  Today, I’m sharing 2 birthday cards that I created using the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil machine, and a few hot foil glimmer foil plates.  I’m using the Everyday Sentiments II and the Happiest Birthday glimmer hot foil plates.  I’m also using 2 foil colors: Prism and Polished Brass.

I ended up creating 2 very different cards, but I love the way they both turned out!

For my first card, I used the Everyday Sentiments II and the Prism foil.  I foiled 5 of the 8 sentiments (I used 2 of the sentiments twice) onto colored cardstock in a rainbow order.  Once all the foiling was done, I die cut them using the included die.

ahsang sb febglimmer 3

I adhered them to white cardstock with foam tape, and then trimmed off the edges.  Next, I added foam tape to the back of the white cardstock, and adhered the panel to a yellow card base that I made to A2 sized.

I have been loving rainbows lately, and I am absolutely thrilled with how this card turned out!

For my second card, I used the Happiest Birthday glimmer hot foil plate and the Polished Brass foil.

I watercolored a piece of watercolor paper using a faux dip dye technique, which I learned from Kristina Werner (here is her blog post).  Once the paint was fully dry (I heat set it, and I let it air dry for quite a while), I foiled it with the glimmer hot plate.  I was a little bit worried about the texture of the watercolor paper, so I made sure to roll it through my Platinum die cutting machine a few extra times.  It came out perfectly!

I attached it to a white card base with foam tape, and I love the way it turned out!  I love that the sentiment of this foil plate is so large that you really don’t need anything else!

I hope you liked my projects, and I hope you were inspired.  Thank you so much for stopping by!

Love Love Love, featuring Pinkfresh Studio

Hi friends!  I made a layout for the Pinkfresh Studio May challenge, which is Anything Goes themed, and Rainbow colors.  You can find more information about it on the Pinkfresh Studio website today, and create your own project as well.

57204022_10158089012072316_3679241402920730624_o.jpg

I used bits and pieces from all 3 of the new collections from Pinkfresh Studio:  Joyful Day, Everyday Musings, and Out & About.  I painted little R’s nails pink for the first time, and she absolutely loved it!  Of course I had to take a ton of photos and document it, haha!1024jungahsang_05challenge_01

Like my recent project with Pinkfresh Studio, I started off using the Pinkfresh studio watercolors, and painted watercolor stripes in rainbow order on my background.  I also added machine stitched scallops in coordinating thread colors.

While that was drying, I created a LOVE cutfile using the Frontage font.  I cut it out 3 times on white cardstock.  I knew I wanted to fill the Os with my photos, and I wanted to back the other letters in kind of a rainbow.

1024jungahsang_05challenge_03

After adhering the cut files to my background using foam squares, I set about embellishing in a tone on tone color scheme.  I used ephemera, puffy stickers, labels and enamel dots to add interest to the layout.

1024jungahsang_05challenge_05

I LOVE how this layout turned out, and I hope you do too.  Thanks so much for stopping by, and don’t forget to check out this challenge on the Pinkfresh blog.  I’d love to see what you create!

Sweet, Hip Kit Club iNSD video Hop

Hello friends, and happy international Scrapbook Day!

59407203_10158530666549778_7004950007459610624_o

I am part of the Hip Kit Club YT video Hop, so here is my video:

Vicki is next on the hop, and her video is linked in the info bar of my video.

My challenge is for you to create a project in a different size or format than you are used to.  For example, I am creating a 6×12 layout, but you could make an 8×10, 6×8 layout, or even create a mini album or TN spread…just have fun and try something different.

ahsang HKC sweet 2

I am using the April 2019 Hip Kits for my layout.  There were so many cute strawberry images in the kits, that I had to document my cutie eating strawberries.

ahsang HKC sweet 3

I fussy cut strawberries from the Crate Paper La La Love collection pattern paper, and they are just perfect for my layout.  I used the Hip Kit Club exclusive acetate alphabet for my title, and I love the way they look when they overlap!

ahsang HKC sweet 4

I also used several pieces from the Dear Lizzy It’s All Good collection: stickers and layered stickers.  I love the dimension on the layered stickers!

ahsang HKC sweet 6ahsang HKC sweet 5

Isn’t that little piggy so cute?  My little one loves pigs, so it was perfect!

I absolutely loved making the 6×12 size, and I will definitely be trying this size again!

For iNSD, lots of fun things are happening with Hip Kit Club.  They are having a big blowout sale, so check out the website for goodie bags, and discounted kits.

Also, lot of challenges and games are going on in the Hip Kit Club Group FB page.  (My game was yesterday, but you can still participate in my challenge by uploading your project to my challenge album in the HKC Group FB page photos.)

That’s it for me!  Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you are inspired to try something different!

Recycling Project, featuring Hip Kit Club

Hey friends!  Tomorrow is {inter}National Scrapbook Day, and there are so many fun things planned!!!  Tonight (Friday May 3, 2019), I will be hosting a challenge and game on the Hip Kit Club GROUP FB page at 9:00 PM PST/ 8:00 PM central, so stay tuned!

Today I’m sharing a project that I created with the April 2019 Hip Kits.  I was challenged to use the B sides of the pattern paper in the kits.  I used the April Main kit, Embellishment kit, Pocket Life kit, Color kit, and Cardstock kit.

I also have a YT process video if you’re interested.

ahsang HKC recycling 1

I used the B sides of the pattern paper, along with a few Paige Evans 2×2 squares to create layered hearts.  I create these layered hearts often, but I love the way they look, and the colors of the papers worked perfectly with my photo.

In case anyone is wondering, I use the Hero Arts Nesting Hearts Infinity Dies, and the Die Cutting Machine I use is the Platinum 6 from Spellbinders.

ahsang HKC recycling 4

To create the background texture, I used the HKC exclusive Paige Evans stencil, and texture paste.  This background is one that I had made for my previous project, when I couldn’t decide if I wanted to use white cardstock or purple.  I ended up going with the purple, so I had this one left.  Since I have the stencil and the texture paste out already, I’ll often make a couple backgrounds in case I want to use it again; that way, I’ll only have to make a mess and then clean up once.

ahsang HKC recycling 5

For my title, I used the HKC exclusive puffy alpha.  I finished embellishing with more hearts, the glittery Shimelle hearts, and the puffy HKC exclusive hearts.

I love the way my layout turned out, and I hope you do too.  Don’t forget to check out my YT process video, and the Hip Kit Club kits.

Lets go swimming, featuring Pinkfresh Studio

Hello friends!  I’m on the Pinkfresh Studio blog today, and I’m sharing a summer layout that I created using the Joyful Day collection.  For more photos and info, head over to the Pinkfresh blog!

There is a lot of pretty blue tones in this collection, so I decided to make a pool layout.  The photo is of my littlest one at the pool last year, and I love how happy she looks!

1024jungahsang_050119_01

I started off by cutting some scallops on white cardstock using my silhouette machine.  The cut file is by Paige Evans, and is called scalloped border background.  The scallops reminded me of waves, so I backed a few of them with the blue pattern papers.  The papers I used are Perfect Moment, Big Ideas, and Fresh Start.

1024jungahsang_050119_03

I painted some watercolor stripes using the Pinkfresh Studio watercolors in Sky blue (my favorite) and Sapphire.  Then I added a few machine stitched scallops, and I love the texture it created.

I adhered my photo, which I backed with the Small Beginnings pattern paper, using foam squares.  I embellished the photo with a wreath that I cut out from the Big Ideas pattern paper, a few sticker labels, tabs from the ephemera pack, and some enamel dots.

1024jungahsang_050119_05

I added a title using the mini puffy alpha stickers.  There are so many letters included in this pack that I was able to spell out the hole title in the orange/red colors, which worked out perfectly since my daughter’s swimsuit is bright orange.

To balance off my layout, I added a few scallops to the bottom, and one to the top. I added a few more embellishments using the ephemera pack and the puffy stickers.

1024jungahsang_050119_02

I really love how this one turned out, and I’m so happy to have another layout for my baby’s album!

I hope you are inspired by my project!

Happy Wednesday!

Technique Tuesday National Scrapbook Day blog hop

NSD-Blog-Hop-Banner

Hello friends and welcome to the Technique Tuesday blog hop!  May 4th is National Scrapbook Day (NSD), and we are starting the celebration early!

For this blog hop, I made a Mom life layout!

ahsang TT sassydays1

I wanted to focus on the Sassy Day stamp set, so I had the idea to stamp them all, and turn them into labels.

First, I used some Distress Oxide inks, and ink blended pink, blue, and purple on white cardstock.  Once dry, I used the stamps, and some black ink to stamp the sassy sentiments, making sure to leave enough room to die cut labels.  Next, I used one of the label dies from the Essential Stitched Labels crafting dies set to die cut the sentiments.  I also die cut some pattern papers from Paige Evans, Maggie Holmes, and Shimelle’s collections that I had in my stash.

ahsang TT sassydays3

On a letter sized piece of white cardstock, I added some pink watercolor.  Once dry, I added the labels.  I used foam tape to adhere the sassy day stamped labels to the background.  I attached the pattern paper labels to the background with just a little bit of glue, and then I machine stitched through the middle.

ahsang TT sassydays4

I added my 2 photos with foam squares.  Next, I added a Mom Life title, and journaling strips.

Since my background is pretty busy already, I just added just a few embellishments.  I added a butterfly and puffy stickers from my stash.
