Make Your Own Magic, featuring Hip Kit Club

Hey friends!  Today I’m sharing a layout that I made with the August 2019 Hip Kit Club kits.  I was challenged to use a cut file, and to make a back-to-school project.  I used a August subscriber cutfile called globe for my layout.  You can access these free cut files on the Hip Kit Club website.

The photos are from my daughter’s first week of school; It’s a tradition I started when she started kindergarten. I like to document my kids’ style, size, and where they liked to shop. I always include a few clothing tags, so you’ll see a few of them on the layout as well.  You can see a few examples here and here.

Using my silhouette, I cut the cutfile from white cardstock.  I backed the cutfile from the various pattern papers in the kit.  I wanted to stick with blue/green tones for the globe, and pink for the flowers.  I decided to use blue cardstock for my background to make the white cutfile pop.  I added some white splatters and machine stitched a big wonky circle before I adhered the globe with thin foam squares.

Since the cut file is pretty busy, I kept my embellishments minimal (as usual, lol). I added the pre-made title of “make your own magic.  I really like how subtle it seems because of the color, yet the texture and shine of the letters help it to stand out.

I also added a Vicki Boutin butterfly, a few more flowers that I fussy cut from a Paige Evans paper, and a few Pinkfresh Studio chipboard stickers.  The Pinkfresh Office Hours collection is perfect for school themed projects!

I really love how this layout turned out. I am always suprised by how much I love dark backgrounds every time I use them. I hope you were inspired, and don’t forget to check out the free cut files and awesome kits.

Happy Thursday!
