It’s October already? We finally got a break from the heat today, with highs in the low 80s, & we got a little rain last night! Woo hoo!
Over the summer we took a little trip to the beach with our girls. First, I’ll share a scrapbook page that I made with one of my favorite pictures from the beach. Then I’ll share a little about our mini trip.
I absolutely love how this page turned out! I used some products by: pink paislee, studio calico, dear lizzy, my mind’s eye, pebbles, with some older products mixed in.
Now, onto our trip! We had two full days at Port Aransas, TX with our girls! My husband and I had just got back from our 10 year anniversary getaway to Colorado, so we wanted this trip to be all about the kids before school started.
My girls love the water & the beach was no exception. We hadn’t been to the beach since our 2nd daughter was born, and she’s 4 now, so it was high time to make a trip! On our first day, we spent a few hours at the beach. We packed a cooler with lots of water and some snacks. (Seagulls made off with our full, unopened family sized bag of gardetto’s while we weren’t watching.) Our 4 year old would go running to get a drink of water, scratching her tongue, saying the ocean was “too salty!” every time she got a little ocean water in her mouth. LOL! It reminds me of when our first daughter went to the beach for the first time when she was 3 and she asked why the ocean was “soapy,” and I tried to explain the waves & surf…
Here are my beautiful girls:
We made plans kind of last minute, but we went on weekdays, so it wasn’t that crowded.
We enjoyed some yummy food while in Port Aransas.
My absolute favorite place to eat was at Irie’s Island Food. My chicken plate was delicious & they had fresh made beignets & yummy creme brulee. You have to get there early though, because they are only open for lunch and they close when they run out of food. For breakfast, we took advantage of the continental breakfast at our hotel (look at the size of that waffle! You know what they say: Everything in Texas is bigger!) For dinner we had Kody’s Restaurant & Bar the first night, and deep dish pizza from Slice of Chicago our second night. We brought pizza back to our room, because we were all exhausted from our days in the sun at the beach.
The girls really wanted to try fishing, so we took them early one morning, and they were so excited when they finally reeled in a fish! They both caught two little ones, before the sun & heat made us call it quits.
Some other things we did in Port A, was of course souvenir shopping. They both got the hats in these photos, and a bag of assorted shells.
We went to eat ice cream, and we also visited the UT Marine Science Institute. They had a little interactive educational set up for the kids. The girls’ favorite part was seeing the tiny aquarium of sea horses & catching the magnetic fish. At the gift shop, they both got to choose their favorite sea life book. This is one of the books (from amazon.com):
…and that’s our amazing 2 days at the beach!
Peace out Yo! & have a great weekend!
